Ironically, is the most simple character design, Larry.

you see larry is all spheres, which makes him very easy to sketch.

but when lineart comes to scene...

I have to make vector circles and then use masks to make him perfectly round.

I guess is not exactly "hard" but out of every character, he's the most tedious to make so far.

So far my comic has only had 4 characters pop up one of which is just some guy who’s not important. None of the main characters are very hard for me to draw though. August is probably the hardest I suppose. Getting his proportions right is sometimes difficult, but I draw him so often it’s not really a problem now.
A Character that I actually do struggle to draw (that is mine, but not in comic) is this guy :sob:

Ok it’s a silly pic, but when I actually draw his whole body getting proportions/perspective right is pain. He’s just such a big guy idk what to do with him lol 🥲 not to mention he also has a sword + scabbard which give me struggle 🥺

Wow, how have I not added to this thread?

I'd say it varies, depends solely on who/what I've been practicing (been drawing chickens, now I struggle to draw humans a little bit)

But right now, I'm having trouble drawing Gallus, who wasn't always difficult, even having more colors than the rest. It's his eyes!

His eyes don't look bad here, but it's technically off model

Too far up, lol!

This is more what they're supposed to look like:

Nit-picky issue, but it really bugs me cause I'm drawing this clucker in like 60+ panels (that's a guess, but it's a lot) And I refuse to use a model sheet bc I feel like I should know my characters by heart (forever amateur, lol!). But ever since I learned to draw, I always struggled with proportions, even when I have the model drawn, so idk. What matters is the story...even if my characters look like willy wonky in most panels...

@2DLenzy
honestly, having a model sheet is actually understandable and I personally support and implore that people made them, sure, you should know how to draw them without them, but there's no shame on checking for details that you're not sure of. In my case there's a point I completely forgot that Larry is supposed to wear his ring, although then I decided that bewteeen chapter 2 and 3 he actually started having it as a necklace.

But still, make the model sheet, analize what eyes you'd like them to have and, optionally, make some study to make chibi eyes for when they're far away or too small in the panel. It helps a lot if you struggle with eyes, intead of waste too much time making good eyes every panel, there's some on which there can't be that much detail.

For me, it'd have to be my character "Ms. Gasper". I find drawing her lower half to be a pain at times as she wears a dress and I often find myself trying to draw her legs over and over again. Still happy with her design overall, though!

Might have a new front runner

I'm an idiot for giving her those boob armour shards. I have to draw that in every panel she's in....

Thankfully she's pulling the strings from a far. For now.

What program do you use? you could make a brush with that pattern, or have a texture and deform it as needed.

I don't think a pattern brush would work as I want the shards to follow the shape/contours of her chest and shoulders.

I'm a glutton for punishment I guess.

I've been trying to find a way to do it without having that problem, you're right, but still you could apply on the more frontal parts of the shoulders and breast, and use a bit of deform, it could save a bunch of time and work.

Tank is definitely the hardest character to draw just because of the metal.
