“Mind ya toes… oh, and give me a shout if a sea monster grabs you… so I can leg it.” He teased.

“Oh. That’s ok, don’t worry.” Shepherd said, hiding his disappointment behind a smile. He wasn’t sure if he’d still be here in a months time.

Barrett picked up the two bottles of vodka and joined Nash.

“Eh, f*ck him.” He said as he poured a drink for the racer.

“They do.” Callan went to poke one of the tiny fish with his finger but it was too quick for him.

Nash sighed. “Aiden… wasn’t like anyone I’d met before. Up until him, the only person who really gave a shit about me was my dad. And when he passed during the Reckoning… I was on my own.

“Aiden changed that. He introduced me to Shift, gave me friends, a community, a purpose, too, I guess. He made me laugh, he stuck up for me… I really loved him. And I thought he loved me, too.”

Barrett may have rolled his eyes when Nash poured his heart out, but he did listen.

“Maybe he does?” The Knight said. “He might be a traitorous b*stard, but he’ll have his reasons. Could just be bribery, but I find extortion’s more effective… and cheaper. Might not have had a choice.”

“Almost.” Callan said as Flor’s fish darted away. He spotted another a few steps away and crept up on it, but his fish managed to escape too.

“Maybe,” Nash sighed. “Then again, he led a swarm right to us just a few nights ago. Could be he’s just a heartless piece of shit, too.”

As another fish swam by, Flor picked up her spear and tries stabbing it. She suddenly suddenly gasped.
"Oh no, I got a poor crab," she said.
