There's a lot of my personal history that goes into my comics, but in terms of other characters, The J-Man has two major influences:

The first is Spider-Man, my favorite fictional character and icon growing up. You can see the simularites in the suit, but I tried to make the man under the mask, Jonny Regionson Jr., as interesting as Peter Parker. There's a lot of Peter's goofiness and humor in Jonny, and they both tend to be late and genreally forget about friend get togethers. Peter Parker can be selfish at times but it's not like how cliche writers write slefish characters. He just puts certain things like money, his Aunt, and his Spider-Man duties above other things which tends to make him make terrible decisions. J-Man's going to be doing similuar things in future stories.

(BTW, this pic is from The Spectacular Spider-Man which is probaby the comic's biggest influence in both writing and style.)
The other would be Indiana Jones, though this kind of goes for both J-Man and his dad. A lot of the family drama comes fomr Last Crusade, one of my favorite movies of all time. J-Man, like Indy, is a semi-reckless adventure who is trying to impress his father by finishing the quest he never could (in the case of the comic, exposing the Big-Man). J-Man's dad, like Indy's, doesn't really want help and wants his son to stay away from the danger, though he can't/won't find the words to say it out loud.
