I think my biggest influence is Frederik Peeters. Maybe he is even the reason I'm doing comics right now. I do love his inks and colors and his stories...

Anyway, I have to recognize that I'm also influenced by japanese narrative style because I read a lot of manga when I was a child. But I have not a particular artist as a influence. Well, Gosho Aoyama, possibly.

I think that the biggest influence on my art comes from my family and friends and the people I've interacted with throughout the past 10-15 years. I've never really been hugely inspired to create based on visual appeal alone -- it's very much relationship-based, conversation-oriented inspiration for me. Lecture classes are a MASSIVE fuel for my creative outlets, grabbing the way people speak, gesture, infer while persuading or relaying information is just... amazing!

VISUALLY, of course, I borrow a lot from Danny Antonucci (Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, Brothers Grunt) and Jhonen Vasquez (surprise surprise!). I also really dig Mai Hanamura's art but I've only recently stumbled upon her designs for some vn games. Ultimately though, my biggest influence is the context of situation. I like to let the visual image build itself.

Wow! it's really nice to see all these people being inspired. and I agree with @Menbung when it comes to art. you don't have to be a Picasso to call yourself an artist. haha!

As for mine, I've stated it before but here are some of their works

Greg Capullo's run on batman is one of my biggest influence. I've always been a fan of batman but damn, this guy just blew me away.

Adam Hughes "good girl art" is a major influence when I draw women (and I like to draw women a lot) The way he handles copic markers are just heavenly.

Frank Cho is a bit of a controversian artist. I love his style and the way he draws women( unlike Adam) has more volume in it. I like his proportions.

That's just to name my top 3. haha!

These artists are also excellent storytellers who knew how to tell a story visually. They also tended to be cheap on lines.

I met those guys once! : D They were special guests at Stockholm International Comics Festival last year, and they wandered past my table! One of them wore the exact same hat I do.

I don't have a specific artist who inspires my style or my work. Really, the Disney company inspires my work. Unless it's the stories that are almost always inspired by daily happenings in my life, my art style, and work is solely inspired by Disney and a lot of the older 2D animations.

i wish i had an intelligent and artsy response to this thread like the resta you guys, but i dont. my biggest influence was a guy from DeviantArt who disappeared a few years ago. Unknown-person, the guy who did the really popular animations for his tournament entries for Endzone and Law of Talos. His art and characters were what really got me into that sort of cartoony style, the sort of blend of western cartoons and eastern animation. the way he draws different varied expressions really rubbed off on me as an artist, and i think i still subconsciously emulate that. though i'm not nearly as talented as him.

Joe Madureira
Love the energy of his art and how he mixes western super hero style with manga/anime.

Loish
Recently just got into her art, but I quickly fell in love with it. I like how she mixes Disney, manga/anime, and art nouveau together. I like how she draws women - being generally "ideal", but not in an objectionable way.

Greg Capullo
Another favorite comic book illustrator, known for Spawn back in 90s and currently draws Batman. I love the darker edge of his work; great at monsters and gore. He's also just awesome at composition.

Tony DiTerlizzi
He's primarily known for his work as a children's book illustrator, but he's also done a lot of work for RPG and card games. I like his style that can be both whimsical, but also capture the darker side of the faerie tales he depicts.

Katsuya Terada
An illustrator that does manga, American comic books, movies, and games. Love his line work
and colors.

J Scott Campbell
A comic book artist that is known for his Disney-inspired style and "cheesecake" art. He drew my favorite comic when I was a kid, Gen 13.

WolfSkullJack
An artist I discovered on DeviantArt. Love her inking and how she blends animal and human anatomy together in her work.

Cara Grand
A friend of mine who is an awesome painter who mixes death, zombies, and humor in her pieces. She's also an awesome chef on top of this.

Kao Lee Vang
A painter that does her work on murals, tattoos, and canvas. I really like her style.

Yoshitaka Amano
An illustrator principally known for his work on Vampire Hunter D, and video games such as Final Fantasy and Castlevania. He does a lot of work with print making, and it's amazing.

LeSean Thomas
One of my favorite animators. I loved Boondocks, and I can't wait for his Cannon Busters show to drop on Crunchy Roll.

Hayao Miyazaki
And the great Miyazaki. I love his films and manga, his use of watercolors, and his ability to capture emotion, nature, and the little things about life and a character's personality.

When I was younger, I was inspired by Greg Capullo, Angel Medina, Todd McFarlane and all the 90's american comic book artists. I'd name also Dale Keown and Rob Liefeld.
My biggest influences when I was trying to be an inker were Scott Williams, Jonathan Glapion, Tim Townsend.

My influences for my comic Zoonland are Family Guy/American Dad!/The Simpsons artists, some italian Mickey Mouse Magazine artists and Leonardo Ortolani.

Most of my favourites have been mentioned, also i was really into the comics that got labelled 'goth' in like the 90's - Jhonen Vasquez (jthm, squee, Invader zim), Roman Dirge (lenore). Read Aaron Alexovich's Serenity Rose all as a teen.
