Why is my comic wide on Webtoons(desktop)?

I've been told that the mobile version comes out great. Especially since we formatted primarily with mobile in mind. But the comic is still appearing stretched and blurry on desktop. Is there a simple fix or is it always like this?

Likely because even if you upload the images at the max possible width, the desktop site still blows it up some. To minimize the blurriness, make sure the width is 940px. It will still appear to be a little blurry especially if you are using sharp lineart.

we make it 436 to keep mobile looking normal

Here's the problem: Whenever your format is smaller than 800, Webtoons will stretch it out to be exactly 800

Also it doesn't matter what format you use, it will always look good on mobile, whether it's 400, 800 or 940. It's best to work in bigger format to be honest, one size fits all so to say.
