I would also like to put the disclaimer out that I don't think all or even most straight men see women as sexual objects!
Like half of it has to be satire, but it's hilarious
Yeah, you're right about that too, but a lot of them do, I blame movies, and comics aimed at men, heck I blame society lol.
If you know how to write romance and can make interesting and likable male and female characters, you should be able to make a great Shoho.
Write perfect males, you're welcome.
grammar corrected!, thanks. XD
LMAO, You're welcome Diego, thanks for the tips btw.
lmao! I can do it too if i want to but isn't my interest right now (although i had a come up 2 romance stories on my mind). One of the famous romance stories Romeo and Juliet is written by a straight men William Shakespeare so isn't discrimination for a straight men to write romance it's just no fun for me
What you are has nothing to do with your writing ability and knowledge in using tropes to your advantage.
I wouldn't really blame movies or comics for it. I would blame the porn industry, (That industry treats its actors like shit, your gender doesn't even matter there) (Not even a lot view them as objects too, also I feel the need to bring this up, poorly writing the opposite gender, women can and have written male characters before)
If the idea is already there, go for it I say.
Two of the best shounen type series I know of are Fullmetal Alchemist and Dorohedoro, they're both lady writers and the writer of the latter is said to have lacked confidence in her art, which I think is excellent.
Dorohedoro isn't even a shounen.
Which is why I put type @CommanderMarty(honestly, the spelling seinen when out my head)
alright fair enough.
True, that industry is the biggest offender, thanks Marty, I was thinking about subtle stuff like you see in superhero comics, but yeah, porn is way worse.
In that industry men and women are treated like sex objects.
Yeah, they are, fun fact, there's porn aimed at women, altough that's super niche, anyway, you brought up a good point, there's women that can't write men to save their life lmao.
basically tons of problems women have with men when it comes to writing also applies in reverse. (This is where the chat could get dark because of let's just say unsavory "people")
That's specially true in yaoi lmao.
Yeah, I know what you mean by "unsavory people," better stop then. xD
This isn't a problem of genders, this is a problem of writers not understanding what they are writing. (Genders play a small part at best)
