Winter clothes for characters?

I've had this idea for the longest time that when it comes to winter/ colder seasons my characters clothes would change like what happens in peanuts.

I thought this was original, what do you think, has anyone done it before?

another note on dressing your character(s): give 'em a wardrobe! too many characters can go for years wearing the exact. same. outfit. if anything, design at least 8 outfits for your character: an outfit for each season (4), their signature outfit (1), and at least three novelty outfits (swimsuit, party outfit, ect.) so that they feel real.

In longform comics, or comics that have set locations and realistically drawn characters, having a wardrobe is great. I don't know if it matters for the kind of comic you're making, since not everybody reading it will be experiencing snow this time of year, and the cast is mostly stick figures?

Some people’s characters change due to the season. Mines do. That idea isn’t bad though, because it shows your willingness to put in the work.

I think changing up the outfit for the seasons is a pretty good way to throw some variety into the character designs. I say go for it!

I change my characters' clothes based on the weather but often (as it's a gag comic) certain weather doesn't fit the joke so the clothes don't always match the season of the time published.

It only works if your comic has no continuity or works with the rules of the series you're making. For instance if a comic is taken within the span of seven days but is set in the Summer, it wouldn't really make sense for the characters to ever wear winter clothes in the comic period. Knowing the rules of your comic should be the key factor to deciding wardrobe.
