Ummmm, you do realize these are one author's "rules" (which he broke regularly) and not the general rules you get in a writing class, and I did say that I thought a few people might find these amusing???
Have you read any Elmore Leonard? He's really quite fun and wasn't one to not take a poke at the writing life with a little sarcasm (like his rule #10)
So sorry if you took this to heart as being some sort of teaching tool...
