I think one of the first things that immediately comes to note is the grammar. Too many run in sentences, too many complicated tangents in the middle of a sentence, and confusing tense. Always think of yourself reading the paragraph to see how it would actually flow - somes it's better to have more commas and periods than necessary than too little.

Grammar and spelling lapses. I would suggest for you to read it over (loudly as it helps for you to detect if something is amiss for it would sound weird) or browse the internet for grammar or spelling checkers like grammarly, I think those aren't a hundred percent accurate but I'm sure it would help, even a little.

Also, if you read it backward, you are more likely to catch spelling mistakes.

Also reading aloud helps with word flow and dialogue. It helps create more accurate dialogue and helps you adjust your descriptions and what not so it sounds better.
I read my stories out loud to my dog... I think she is more interested in the bone she is chewing on, but it helps me anyway.
