Got a bit of time while I wait for interior art to come in for Aftermath and for the rights holders of another project to give me the go-ahead to do something, and I've got this idea I wanted to float...
I really like having these characters in my head, and I was thinking it would be fun to have two of them, Aquila and Kasumi, do a weekly review series (so, Aquila and Kasumi review an episode of Star Trek Picard, etc.). Aquila is a former god of destruction (who despite travelling in the story worlds doesn't really understand storytelling nearly as well as she thinks she does), and Kasumi is her creator (and romantic partner, and "straight man"/voice of reason).
To give you an idea of what this would look like, here's Aquila's hot take on The Lord of the Rings trilogy from the draft of book 3:
“The movie made no damned sense,” Aquila declared. The wind rustled the tree branches above them as they passed through a grove. “It was about this short guy who has to take some evil magic ring and throw it into a volcano. Okay, that’s fine. But he has to throw it into a volcano that is literally right next to the dark lord’s tower. Why would you do that? Why wouldn’t you take the ring to some other volcano in the opposite direction of the dark lord’s tower? It’s not like the lava is going to be less hot!”
Beside her, Kasumi chuckled. “I think you may have been missing part of the point.”
“What point?” Aquila demanded. “Lava doesn’t stop being lava if you go to a different volcano. And don’t even get me started on those giant bird things.”
So, it would be a weekly series of just that. Would people be interested in reading that?
EDIT: Just realizing that there is something that should be added to this - I would only be having these characters review shows and media that I think are good. I don't like the meanness of spirit that pervades current pop culture commentary, and I don't want to use these characters to do takedowns or encourage hate watching (life's too short to spend time watching something you don't like). Having Aquila wondering why Picard doesn't just phone ahead to the villain and make an appointment for the final confrontation to just speed everything up is good natured fun, and that's the sort of thing I want to do.
