My style is a fusion of both. But I would say most of my art 'heroes' are western styled.
Like @JeanGuillet HergĂŠ was a huge influence on young me. Especially for the way he draws action scenes of all things. They're very simple, but his poses are really cool.
Bill Watterson is another. His imaginitive combo of cartoony and realistic is cool. Love his poses too.
Mark Bagley he's one of my favorite Spider-Man artists. Love the way he draws hands.
John Romita Jr another of my favorite Marvel artists. His rendition of the Hulk is one of my favorites. He blends the Silver-Age style with modern styles so well. Even has those blocky hand shapes.
JACK KIRBY how has no one mentioned him yet?! His poses are so fun and dynamic, they just leap off the page.
Wayne Reynolds his card art for MTG is so cool. He's got a really awesome cartoony, but painted style and again, he draws giant hands. I can't seem to get away from that xD
Dave Quiggle hyper stylized art for Hardcore, Punk, and Metalcore albums. Love everything he does.
Finally I'll leave off with Genndy Tartakovsky more hyper stylized stuff. Cartoony as heck. But in my newer style I pull a lot from his bag of tricks.
(Edit. I also don't care for Jim Lee's art all that much. He's good and all, but it doesn't provoke any emotion out of me )
