Would you listen to a podcast that's half music and half comics tips/interviews/advice?

Let's say it's 60-90 minutes. Half of it is a mix of music, half is comic creator interviews, writing and art tips, and comics journalism.

Leaving aside the legality of putting music in a podcast, would you want to sit through all of it - assuming you'd like at least some of the music - or would you skip straight to the talk portions?

I'd skip straight to the talk portions.

Unless it was just a few songs- like the 'Cracked' podcast does two or three songs per 90 minute episode and they usually have something to do with the theme of the episode and the host explains their importance. 'This American Life' also does this, but same thing where it's MOSTLY talking and then one on-theme song as an interlude between talking.

But yeah, if it's not adding to the show or at least relevant to the show, I don't think I'd want to hear music. In fact you might be limiting your audience since you'd be making a venn diagram of 'people who like comics' and 'people who like the music I like' and only reaching the overlap rather than the whole comic liking circle.

It'll be related, at least in mood (e.g., dark music for a horror episode, light music for a thing on kids' comics). I was thinking of having the guest pick out the soundtrack to their comic.

I definitely would. It'd be a great way to spread word about independent artists (musically and otherwise) and possibly hear some valuable advice. I would say that the length plays the biggest part of all of this. I think 60 - 90 minutes might be a bit long, but that depends on how much of it is made up of music, how frequent the podcast is, and how long the talking portion itself is.

Ooooh! Depending on the music and/or explicitly of the conversations, this might be something that I'd listen to while working on my webcomic.

i think id sit through it a few times, and decide from there if i fancied your music taste. but, if it was in the middle or scattered, id be more likely to listen through. i lived through a year of unending smooth radio at college, i can live through anything. i know wtnv has a music section - although, it is one song and not a proper Section - that i never really skipped, partly bc it was very short. so scattered musicd prolly do you well.

I would most likely tune in for the music and it would probably depend on the types of music being played on the podcast. I tend to like listening to music while I work, it's a little harder for me to pay attention to tips and advice while I'm multi-tasking though :s.
