Would you rather have a long episode 1 day a week, or 2 short episodes in a week?

Also, it's a novel, if that changes your opinion.

I used to update with one page twice a week. My partner, seeing how stressed I was, suggested 2 pages stacked into one update, once a week. I was sceptical, but after I switched, I never went back. It allowed my updates to feel like a much more satisfying chunk of content, and made making them a lot less stressful because I could work in batches.

I personally like once a week. I don't know how long is long to you. I don't like having episodes that take more than 10 minutes to read. So for a month you are not taking more than an hour to read you comic. I think that's a nice length.

This was tough for me cuz I do 1 short episode (four panels) once a week. But I normally have them done a week in advance so I guess 2x a week would be more doable than one long one for me 🫢

depends on how long we're talking. It's fine to do 3 pages, or even 2 pages twice a week. But 1 page twice a week makes for annoying reading experience.

For a novel, yes, that totally changes my opinion; I'll probably wait several months and then read a bunch of chapters all in one go, it's what I usually do.

I'm seeing lots of once is fine, and it is. But I find that my engagement goes down to zero if I don't update twice. You should probably base this off how much you can make in a week. Is making one and a half long episodes per week more accessible than making three short ones per week? cuz you wanna be able to stockpile these things in case of an emergency or you just feel less motivated for other weeks.

As a reader I prefer two, but consistency is more important than numbers.

For a novel and considering the recommended size of a tapas chapter. I have seen that it is better to have 2 chapters per week rather than 1. That is on Tapas. Basically two chapters of 3-5 minutes work better than one chapter of 6-10 minutes.

That is on tapas not on other platforms. On other platforms I notice a tendancy to having 1 longer chapter rather than two. When you decide how many chapters you should publish per week and which schedule you should take in mind your target audience. In this case the target audience is tapas readers.

Now your poll might not help you as you may have hoped since many here are authors and we are not your target audience. Instead I think you should poll your readers and see what they think about it.

P.S. You should also note that the frequency in which a novelist and an artist update their stories are not the same. Be careful in that sense since you are clearly a novelist.

For me it depends on the genre

For slice of life or things with no overarching plot, 2 short is better bcuz I might forget it exists
For things with a plot, 1 long is better because there's more to digest. 2 short would break the flow

I noticed that most readers lose interest in short episodes (unless you make the "slice of life" genre), and by short I meant <10 panels. It's hard to include any context in an episode if it's so brief...

I think I’d rather have two short episodes a week because I decided to work on two episodes at a time and nowadays my episodes are 1 page at least to 5+ at most. For me I make them short. I honestly have no consistent schedule for my series’s I just get it done when I get done.

For me, as a writer, and for a bunch of other people, 1 long episode a week is the best option. more content in one update and more time to prepare it. A win-win situation!
