Would you still read a comic if a few pages are confusing af?

Yeah, this definitely concerns me. I am redoing my older pages right now because I don't want them to drive readers away, you could do this, too, @blacknwhiteeagle100, it's a bit more work but it's worth it on the long run.

Oh dude, yeah, stumbling upon your comic NOW, going back to read through, I definitely wouldn't unsubscribe just because the beginning pages are a bit on the garish side. It's clear that you've found a proper. cleaner format and that you're improving the flow of the bubbles and text (your advancement is really nice visually).

I know that for my pages, the art/my technical ability at the beginning aren't a good reflection of the entire comic. And I'm pretty sure most veteran readers are aware of this.

Yeah I totally feel that. I hope that's in like the first 10 pages or so because the ones i put up are like in the 18's and like....ggggggg
a surefire way is to have bacon bits to lure in the readers but unfortunately that's just not plausible

I'm taking the other approach. Not redoing anything. Webcomics are also interesting to see the artist's progression.
What if your first pages turn out way better than the rest...
The trick is to work on smaller projects, so you can start fresh everytime it's completed. Mine will be 130 pages. It's not small but not over epic either...

I don't think I would unsubscribe from a story just for a few confusing pages. I usually just wait for an explanation for what those pages were about when that happens. I like to speculate on stuff so I don't see a reason for not a reading a story just because a scene didn't make sense to me yet!

well yes artist progression is fun to see! but most of the time that interest more other artist than regular readers that just wanna read webcomic that are easy to follow! it depends on if you wanna broaden the audience! but don't give up! you do what you feel you need to do! stay in the groove!

I really like the coloring on the first page. Its really unique.
I dont know if you used digital coloring on the later pages but they seem really bland and kinda pixaly.

And the text bubbles really fill up the page. It looks like it hides the art and thats a shame because its really good!

Thanks so much for your commentary! Yeah the beginning 60+ pages I somehow did it with traditional. So redoing them all would be such.....a sucker of time to say the least. However for the longest time I was like...I focused a lot more energy on whether or not the feel of the pages is beautiful or whatever, and then the actually text boxes came across as REALLY hard to read at times, mostly because I first penciled it in English then wrote Chinese then scanned the damn picture and typed up English in MS PAINT lol plus I was thinking more along reading the page in 9x12 inch and....yikes
It's such a shame, because really big text boxes can make the page feel cozy, but there are times when you can't literally do anything to make the page better besides redoing it. So I guess the most you can do is hope that readers won't be put off by the burnt edges.

I wouldnt subscribe if the beginning is too messy or if it get's unintentionally messy more into the plot. I'd try to not make it messy from the beginning or re-do it if it ends being messy anyways. A way to prevent that is designing the whole chapter before drawing it or at least half of it, so you can see how everything will look like. Also, a small recommendation is try not to put a ton of things happening in the same page, for example, try to use a norm of 6 to 5 panels per page, that'll help it look less messy since there are less things in the page.

lol yussssssssss thati totally agree with that. What if the first 10 pages are good and not that messy but like there are pages in the first chapter that are messy? Like a few pages are messy but most are like acceptable?

That's a lot of work to re-do it hahaha. I think is aceptable if from 100 pages 10-15 are confusing, you can still read through it, but if from 100, 80 are confusing, how the heck I'm I supposed to read something I can't? If you have to explain every page of a comic, better try to do it so the reader understand it without explaining it. You won't be doing 60 pages again, I understand that, but try the make the newer ones better, after all, when you start reading a comic Tapastic takes you to the newest chapter, and that chapter will probably leave the first impression to the reader.

If the art was really shitty I would nope out pretty quick.

I'd give you a free pass because of the art quality but would have much higher expectations in later pages. However, new readers are likely to have the wrong impression and just move on right away.

Personally I think it's worth redoing your earlier pages with a focus on quality to close the gap between the level of art vs. the lettering. Maybe stick to the first 10 pages or so just to give a good impression for first timers reading from the start. From there you can decide whether it's really worth it to re do everything else.

YESSSSSSS lol i have been working my butt offf on the recent pages lol like 4 hours per panel. I'm glad that I had sense in my stupid past self to like. Not amke it really confusing for the majority or else that would be Hell. On. Earth.
By the way, your icon is cute, is that from your webcomic? if you have one I'd like to czech it out lol
