Hello!
I've been wanting to write for a long time, but have avoided jumping into it out of..I don't know, fear? Not having someone to help with the visual component?
BUT, I'm tired of not going after something that I want to do.
I'd love to connect with someone who is open to doing the illustrations for a comic or graphic novel (if it gets that far). I'm a beginner and I am not focusing on publishing or payment at this time, as I want to experiment and create without worrying about end results. If you are farther along in your creative pursuits, I completely understand and wouldn't expect you to collaborate with me at this stage in my own creative development
IF, however, you are maybe just starting out, too, or are dipping your toes into sequential art for the first time, maybe we could put our heads together to create something cool. I want a true collaboration. Though I am interesting in writing the scripts, I feel the art tells the story equally with the words, so I'm hoping to really have a partner in creating something cool.
The idea I have floating around right now is a grounded superhero type of story with a small number of characters. The main protagonist is a man in his sixties and he's invincible. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a teenager because voices were guiding him toward people who needed help. After a particularly bad encounter as a man, the voices stop and he essentially drops out of the hero game, only to occasionally use his powers in quiet ways. But, an event on the day of a blizzard gets him back in the game. He is introduced to a young man who has a power related to sleep, but the man does not realize what's wrong with him. Meanwhile, a villain from the past resurfaces hoping to use the young man with sleep powers for nefarious purposes.
I have a lot more mapped out for it, but that's a general idea I have in mind.
I would LOVE to work with someone who wants to do the art! Your input will be invaluable to me and I cannot express how much I appreciate artists and their ability to tell a story.
I hope to hear from someone!
Tim
