Writers, What Keeps You Going with the Grind?

Hey fellow wordsmiths,

So real talk—writing is awesome, but sometimes it feels like we’re dragging ourselves through a swamp made of plot holes, self-doubt, and caffeine.

Whether you're pumping out weekly updates, juggling ten side characters and a lore bible, or just trying to finish one dang chapter... I gotta ask: What keeps you going?

Lately, I’ve been losing motivation. I’m getting views, sure… but not nearly what I hoped for. Subs are crawling in slow-mo, and comments? Rare like a unicorn on a diet.
It’s tough when you’re putting in the work and the numbers just aren’t vibing with the effort.

I dont have a TV. The last time I saw a movie or something becouse I was interested was like seven years ago. I dont like the current entertaiment industry. So, I was bored and retook writing. I do something and keep my self entertained. Have found some exitement in trying diferent genres. Will write my first Noir very soon, or at least I hope to.

Man, I wish I had your mindset. I’ve been writing for a while now too—partly to keep myself busy, partly to get these stories outta my head—but honestly, it’s been tough not seeing much traction.

Well, unless you write something pink, dont expect to gain any traction.
Is hard to get readers.
I just keep going, maybe one day I will get a hit... maybe not.

I gotta have something for my in person writing group. Legit the only reason I go to it. It makes me actually get shit done. And I've been trying to give myself deadlines; get one chapter done of either of my webnovels a week. That's definitely less of a motivator than my local group, though.

You say you are losing motivation because of numbers not looking the way you want.
I personally don't think that is the right way to create content.
Do what you love to do and you will never lose motivation!

Money. Even if you only 2 cents, those 2 cents are way more motivating when it hits your account than putting all your dreams on views

What keeps me going is literally just my burning passion for my characters and desire to share them and their stories. I want other people to appreciate them as much as I do (probably impossible) and I enjoy writing.

My goals keep me going.
Uploading for some views wouldn´t motivate me at all.

I´m writing a story which I will turn into a comic which
I´ll send to publishers to publish it as a printed comic.
The idea of having my own printed comic which is sold
in mailorders + in comic shops through a publishing
company is very motivating for me.

Then I´m writing songs. I wouldn´t be motvated
if I just write them for myself or to upload them and
get 7 views. I want a record deal, I´ll film a video and
I´ll go on tour with a band to promote the songs.

Wanting to see my novel series completed. I tend to start projects but have hard time finishing them.

You might find the reason a bit strange... but I have an Arabic memes page and I need ideas, and coincidentally my work contains meme ideas, but I need to publish them so that I don't have to explain the memes to people later... There are of course other reasons, such as my desire to fulfill my promise to my friends and to do work that people will remember me by, even if I am the dual version of Isayama.

What keeps me going? well I take systemic breaks for one. Every 8 chapters I just write a short and take the week off. As for the emotional side of things...I just don't think about it. I just do.

Writing is my life, so I keep pushing forward, because no matter how tough things are, that rush, that joy of putting a story together beats it all
