yeah...

As for BF-I looked through a lot of designs for her hair, specifically something that would go under a hat. I've been a fan of Josephine Baker as a fashion icon, so Bf has those hair loops on the side as a result.

Also, the outfit she wears is a combination of Dick Tracy, The Spirit, and a little Inspector Gadget...The hat is big because I found it made the silhouette more interesting. And, to this day, she's my personal fave character design.

Oh, Josephine Baker, my FL, Kimberly, from "Hushabye Prince" (now dropped unfortunately) had a picture of Josephine Baker in a tuxedo and top hat as her screen saver. She's an actress, so she considered Josephine an inspiration, but the school she teaches at is named after someone I consider an icon. It's "McDaniel Prep" after Hattie McDaniel.

Also I can't judge you. when I was a kid I had a crush on the fire guy from Mario. I also used to watch Inspector Gadget occasionally, he's a fun inspiration.

It was! But, I thought it was a nice little trademark for BF's hair, and it helped with the silhouette! Plus It meant she was still recognizable even with a hat.

I agree, Hattie McDaniel is a big inspiration to me for black girls who beat the odds to prove herself in the industry. I hope to do as much myself someday.

And...for the sister series...Rin's outfit is meant to be like a kid version of Spike Spiegel (loosely). I love the movie Brick, and the creator was heavily inspired by Cowboy Bebop (of which I'm also a fan)- Rin has a liiiiiitle bit of Spike's hair too

As for Clyborne-The outfit inspiration was actually Joel Cairo from The Maltese Falcon! The concept really came from the idea of a character who fits the femme gangster trope from the 1930s, but the twist being he's the detective instead.

As for the hair, his original hair was pretty awful. But...I fixed up his design with a bit of input in the forums.

But, due to a little input from the forums, and a little goofy conversation between @2DLenzy , I made him a bit more Rooster-like-with Dr. Tenma also serving as inspiration.

Elsie!

She’s a mush of Rey from Star Wars and Elizabeth Bennet (both from the BBC Pride and Prejudice mini series and the 2005 movie)

Rosie!

Based on a real life friend of mine and Jane Bennet from Pride and Prejudice (2005)

Roy!

He’s a sunshine and golden version of Mr. Darcy. Roy shares much character with Darcy’s buddy Charles Bingley. Which was the dynamic that inspired Ernest’s and Roy’s in the story.

Roy is also a George Crabtree (from Murdoch Mysteries) knock off lol.

Where do you think Roy got those wicked sideburns!?

And lastly Mrs. Evans.

Every old stern British lady or old lady I could think of and make a hodgepodge of a cliche period drama stern lady.

As you can see Pride and Prejudice was a huge influence on Elsie. Bigger than I thought actually! 🤣

This was accidental, but Dr. Horace looks a lot like that chicken guy from Breaking Bad, except he's got more hair, sorry, Horace...

My original design of Friar looked closer to the Franciscan monk, though I simplified him/gave him more of an "open robe" look



He's gonna get a few changes (an outfit of sorts) as the story progresses, cause I like the rope belt and leg wraps personally. But it'll be near the end of this next fat arc.

I think my female lead was partly inspired by an auntie of mine and Nyakim Gatwech with her complexion. Her eyes were probably subconciously inspired by a woman who had a hair care tutorial on YouTube. I'm not sure who or what inspired her being so tall though I got reference for how I could style her from celebrities like Taylor Swift.

Just like Lyza and Ethan.... Lyza, sometimes, feels like a girl Asterix. She's much smaller than Ethan but very cunning and strong.

Dominic's body type is partly inspired by golden age natural body builders from the 1900s. I can't really say his height or complexion were inspired by anyone, they're just what came to me. His hooded eyes were inspired by pictures I found when researching different eye shapes on Google lol.
