Writers! Who (real or fictional) inspired the (physical) character designs of your OCs? (Make sure you post a link to a chapter that describes one or both of them)

For my male lead Kattar he's probably inspired by random strangers I've seen in my country, brown-skinned Hispanics with relatively light-colored hair (though Kattar's IS dyed.) And also cough cough Hwang Hyunjin, as I like guys/male characters with long hair.

Alicia's design is a little harder to trace, partially just what I myself find pretty, brown skin, long dark hair, and also the features I know native peoples tend to have. I also have a skin disease and a lot of scars myself so I often give my female characters things like scars and vitiligo. I hope that someday women with scars and traits like these won't be considered less beautiful than others.

The main theme of my comic is action fantasy, but romance is secondary along with drama.

Astra is inspired by the three fictional princesses I grew up with being Sailor Moon, Princess Leah and She-Ra.
Ira is inspired by Orlando Bloom.
Fau is inspired by most of the Disney Princes.
Pen is inspired by Tobey MacGuire.
Psychoborg is inspired by He-Man and Van Damme.

Eliza was probably inspired by a whole lot of African-American women I've seen pictures of on social media, and in hair tutorials and more, along with my own personal hair-struggles, entrepreneurialism, and go-getter attitude.

Ruby: I think is largely inspired by me and my sibling's senses (or sense, because we're pretty in-sync and they're often more or less the same) of humor and savagery. But physically, idk. I guess a but by the business-y sort of tomboy thing I feel like I've seen in anime art, and also designed into a lot of my own stories before.

Aaron: I think is inspired by some AMBW couples I've seen on YT as well as the fact that I just like writing AMBW couples, and also how common it is for Korean's to run beauty supply stores.

For Jethuun, it was literally this picture of a pac-man frog lol. The frog with its eyes closed had a feel about it that I really liked.

As per Dante, he's a mix of Ace Ventura and Johnny Bravo, in looks, style, and attitude. He's eccentric personality paired with insane intelligence and confidence is what makes him a very dangerous person!

The physical design of my male lead was inspired by a pebble I found on the ground.

There isn't really a chapter that describes him though, you get to see what he looks like in the prologue.

Let's go to Hushabye Prince:

Jinwoo: Yoon Jeonghan is the base of his inspiration, while his fashion is just inspired by soft boy aesthetic (but in monochromatic blue)

Kimberly: Hard to nail down. I wanted her to have a pretty feminine style, she's also a little bit inspired by the idea of a hummingbird (specifically a coquette) and the tie between that and the word coquette (meaning a flirtatious woman) so I decided to give her a girl-next-door meets coquette fashion statement. Her physical design is simply inspired by pictures of the Melanesian people that I've seen and thought were so pretty I had to give them to a character, though I made her eyes green, maybe inspired by my aunt Kimberly, who's African American yet her son has green eyes.

Jimin: This one's basically impossible, just a lot of cool tomboys I've seen pictures of on google.

Hallie's style is inspired by hippie/boho fashion photographs I've seen. I can honestly not remember when or why I decided to make her so tall and blond, but she and Mad are sort of designed with each other in mind as a contrast. Mad's hair is inspired by short perms I've seen photographs of and cute tomboy fashion.

Tbh, they sort of look like modern recreations of Cinderella and Merida, but not quite.

Shannon Carmichael is probably visually inspired by this very popular picture that used to circulate when I was younger of a south asian girl with bright blue eyes. His eyes are green, but I think I saw that idea in my head a lot as I was writing him.

Well Screnry is literally my friends cat who came from my mom’s boyfriends ranch. His backstory is mostly accurate aside from the place being used for nuclear testing and the rats didn’t take heroin as far as I know at least. My girlfriend doodled down a little cartoon character that was kind of similar to what he is today. I like the basic premise though and drew him in a bunch of different ways until I got to what I have today. I’ll put a picture of him below and the backstory stuff is in chapter 1

Hold-the-phone is from drug delirium

Agent Monkey is my cat who recently passed away a few months after I started the comic so I’m continuing in the comic to keep him alive in a way. There is a picture of him in chapter 5

It wasn't intentional, but Madeline looks oddly like Lee Felix. Don't be confused tho, she's British not Aussie. I do think I somewhat thought of him occasionally because of her freckles, but it's more in line with her being ginger and half English rather than her Korean side.

I'm not really sure who inspired Melissa's design. I think rather subconsciously, she looks like a much older version of Mirabal Madrigal from Encanto.
