WUF are now unlocked for 3 days only

As of version 6.6.0 of the app, WUF are no longer unlocked permanently. Version 6.6.0 only described it as new 3hr WUF product feature and minor bug fixes and did not say anything about the WUF change. To make matters worse, it only took them 5 or 6 days to force users to update the app to that version or not be able to use the Tapas app.

I did not know about these changes until someone mentioned it and I am not pleased to note that the only place I could find that Tapas directly mentioned these changes was the help section of the app (before the app update). The final piece of the puzzle is that this is almost certainly the reason for the recent TOS changes.

I thought that the unlocked chapters from WUF lock themself only during the "3 hours event". Q.Q So this is permanent status? Q.Q

Even though I usually buy the episodes instead of "waiting until free" every 3 days or a week, this is still really annoying because I would have to buy it later to get access again

and there isn't an option to buy instead of waiting, only if you've already unlocked a WUF episode -and are still waiting on the timer-

Yea, it seems like the new WUF setup is not friendly toward people who want to ignore it and just permanently unlocked all of their episodes with ink.

Personally, I do not see very much benefit to changing the WUF model to this. I will not be spending more ink due to this, I will simply not be unlocking as many series. There were WUF series I had used ink on the remaining episodes simply because I had all the WUF episodes unlocked and wanted a complete series.

Adding the ability to forgo wuf and to buy instead has been noted as a priority for a future update for the app.
Currently episodes are available to buy on web, but understandably it's not optimal since one misses out on bulk deals/1 click unlocks.

Ok, first off, am I confused or are other confused? Even with the new update if you spend ink on a WUF you still have it permanently unlocked. It's only temporary if you do the free wuf unlock.

Second, Tapas is being so underhanded with this whole thing! They've hit the binge readers so hard with this new 3 day lock. And now, as almost an act of compensation they gave us the "3 hour timers" but it is not compensation at all because now you're glued to a timer do try and get as many free chapters unlocked so you can get a decent reading in before they lock again in 3 days.
I don't know what they're trying to achieve with all of this but in the end they're going to end up losing readers. And paying ones at that.

If you have a WUF episode available, there isn't an option to actually buy it, so if you wanted to read a series again you would have to keep unlocking that episode, which in and of itself is more of annoyance than anything, but would suck if there were newer episodes that were also WUF and you had to wait three hours or an entire day to read it

This whole new system seems terrible for free to read users. When an episode relocks there is no way to tell if you read it. So now I need to write down what chapter I read? What good is this system other than angering the wuf readers? All it’s doing is making me not read anything as I don’t remember what chapter I was on for what series as I read a decent amount of series.

I think we can divide up how people unlocked WUF series on the previous version into several different strategies or groups.

1. People who did not wait for WUF timers and unlocked episodes on the day the series was released. This group is probably also correlated with people who like to make top comments or first comments.
2. People who use the timer to unlock all the current WUF episodes available for a new series. They may spend ink to unlock all the rest of the available episodes and binge read the series. Depending on the series, they may keep unlocking the new episodes that come out every week.
3. People who delayed reading older or complete series until they had either caught up with the WUF or unlocked all the WUF for a complete series. They also might buy the rest of the series when it goes on sale.

The new system does not work well for 2 and 3. I would have preferred they put more new series on 3 day or 7 day permanent WUF than 1 day WUF or 3 hour WUF. In other words, what I am saying is that I would have liked that they rolled back on that instead they were doing it for money reasons. We were getting a lot of new series being 1 day WUF.

I had thought the 3day lockout was only for the 3hr WUF series and that Tapas' WUF system was being buggy(as usual) and accidentally appying it to the other WUF series as well. Has it been confirmed that this new 3day lockout system is a permanent change to the entire WUF feature?(I really hope it isn't)

Unfortunately, it appears to be permanent so far. If you look at the help section of the app it mentions the new 72 hour unlock for WUF.

From what I have tested with a new series it is possible to unlock all episodes of a series except one if you unlock them while the WUF timer is still charging. However, the last episode will be stuck in an endless WUF time-loop.

I'm trying to read a WUF series that has a 3 day lockout period and having a hard time of it. By the time I can unlock a new chapter, the last chapter I read has been locked again and I end up unlocking it again instead of a new one. With the 3 hour timers this happens occasionally but I have plenty of time to unlock the additional chapter while the old one is still unlocked. Getting a warning that a chapter has been unlocked previously, or changing 3 day WUF timers to something shorter would be nice .

Yup totally agree, there should be some kind of notification that episode was read so we don't unlock same episodes multiple times. Happened to me way to often up to a point if I see a new series that I've never read and has a WUF I just plainly ignore it.

In other news, my ink offers are now worth half what they used to be and one of my weekly free episodes was for a complete series I have unlocked all of the way.

This is my problem. I am not reading chapters on a regular basis because of work, and now I am locked in a cycle of unlocking chapters that I have already read, or I am trying to bounce ahead and end up unlocking a chapter a chapter or two ahead of where I should have been.

After struggling with this, I am just not successfully reading any WUF series anymore. Once in a while, I will try to unlock a chapter or two, then remember the futility of it, give up and wander off.
