You don't have to apologize for being late on a comic

I also feel bad for not updating on time, no mater what my life circumstances are/were at the time of the OOPS! I know a lot of us creators feel this way. If I finish a page early I'll try to use the "Schedule an Update" button (WHICH IS SUPER AWESOME! Thank you TAPASTIC TEAM!) but there are times when those late updates just feel like I let someone down. Someone who was looking forward to seeing my comic pop up in their feed with an update to give them a little boost to get through the day and such.

I think there is also this underling fear that if I don't update regularly and as on time as possible my subscribers will lose interest and as much as I would LOVE to say that "I don't care who reads my stuff" I cant really say it with any sort of conviction because it does mater. To me, anyway. The same way that reading the work of someone else brightens my day it gives me a great feeling of accomplishment when someone comments or <3's my update. It encourages me to keep working on my story/comic. I can honestly say that if NOT ONE PERSON had an interest in reading what I wrote/drew then I would steadily loose interest in writing/drawing it. (At least to the point that I might stop publishing it on the web, anyway.

The feeling of accomplishment is a precious one and it really helps to know that someone out there might just be depending on my next update, so I try to update as regularly as I can.

I honestly can't help it sometimes. ^^; It's partly because I'm someone who likes keeping their word, so when I say my comic will update evey x-days at y-time, I try to keep to that schedule.

It's also just because, in a weird way, I kinda like my readers. There's plenty of cool and more interesting comics out there and they decided to follow mine, so my of saying thanks is to just work hard and keep a consistent schedule.

I don't really feel too bad about lates, though. When they happen it's more of a "Whoops! My bad, fellas!", but I get what you mean about apologizing too much.

Yep, it really depends on how much of a big deal you make your make your posting schedule out to be and probably how many subscribers you've got.

Well, to each their own. I would apologize, if I were late (it's never happened before), I find it's common courtesy.

Well, I did the smart thing, went off the posting schedule until my site had a buffer again, and now just announce when the next pages are going to be up. No more apologies!!

Seriously though, I do still kind of appreciate it when people say "you don't have to apologize", even if I can't seem to drop the habit in spite of being told that. XD And luckily I don't constantly post about missing updates either...

My first inclination after a submission is to apologize, especially after a week of not submitting because of personal reasons. When I was on Smackjeeves, a person would unfavorite pretty much every week (sometimes favorite, then unfavorite the same day) and, as the insecure artist that I was, couldn't help but blame myself each and every time. I hated that website.
