My best was probably this sketch I did of my grandpa while he was in the hospital. Favourite was this sketch of this bee-cat... because it's a cat.

Woah... I suck at backgrounds but- woah.
Now that my focus has kind of switched to comics from illustration I don't really get to spend as much time on my sketches as I used to, but when I do stand alone illustrations I actually like to do two rounds of sketches to get the pencils really clean.
My comic sketches tend to be a little messier.

I did this doodle a few years back. Shows I really just am not into traditional stuff much anymore. Digital doodles I've drawn some old fashioned anthropomorphic animals.

I feel you, the sketch is usually always better then the finished project. for me at least.
My pencil sketches are always super messy, but they have a certain dynamic to them which I really like.
My digital sketches are cleaner, probably because I don't smear with my hand over the paper all the time.
