What was the biggest plot development that happened in your comic this year? What shook things up? What was the biggest change? What things did you characters accomplish - or fail to accomplish? Did we learn anything really important this year? Post about it here!

The beginning of this year I spent my comic time redrawing Chapter 1 for my book, so I've only got half a year of new content posted. But there's a clear choice for the most important event of 2016 in Heroes of Thantopolis. It was Cyrus's memories coming back to him, although at bad times. Cyrus has lost all the specific memories of his life upon arriving in Thantopolis, but in Chapter 5 certain things cause his memories to come back.

First, he remembers doing poorly in English class - just as he's about to read a bunch of books for a mission:

But more significantly... he remembered his mother.

He's just 12 years old and has been missing his parents so much... but now that he's remembered WHY he misses his mom so much, well he can't bear to be separated from her! But sadly he is.

Don't worry, this isn't the end of Cyrus's sporadic remembering. Maybe the next thing he remembers will be useful, or at least not upsetting? Can I promise that? Not really.

What shook up your comic world this year? Post it!

Hmmm, Well, two of the biggest things that happened in my comic, POW! Right in the Nostalgia, were relationship related.

The first being two of my characters, Claire and James becoming a couple thanks to having a connected past and some meddling by another character in my comic...

And the other was at the end of the year in which my two main characters, Charlotte and Chase, officially becoming engaged to be married after years of being boyfriend and girlfriend...

Ho boy, this is going to sound strange, but 2016 JODDAS VAPD has:

characters getting jobs:

A sudden romance:

And a Hauntfest being invaded by deranged killer pumpkins:

Galebound3 started off in May and it's fairly slow-updating so can't say a whole lot's happened, but most significantly Conan learned that getting kidnapped is the least of his concerns.

1

So yeah. He's had a rough year and has a few rougher years ahead of him. He's had his first (minor) encounter with magic, got kidnapped by a anarchist, started awakening to his own power (or rather, was finally put in a position for it to manifest), and now he's got an assassin to deal with.

Gosh, I went through a lot of pages in 2016, and there's so much more still to come in the new year (though Grassblades IS finally starting to kick into something like a higher gear, and will be delivering on those a bit more in 2017!), but I think the most significant thing that happened was that I finally got around to introducing an actual, solid antagonist!

He hasn't gotten to appear much so far (whoops sorry gotta get this 3-chapter arc out of the way first ^_^;), but it's nice to have an antagonist OTHER than my main character's own horrendous bad mood.

Welcome Back1 is an old comic so I already made all the big plot points before but here are the ones I uploaded as of now:

Discovering a weird dream universe that transforms characters in the real world into distorted versions of themselves.

Character's personalities and mental states can change from entering this dreamworld and discovering they can share it.

The evil doppelgänger of one of the main characters gets fleshed out.

Things start getting darker in this cute dreamworld and it's shown that one of the main characters had been hiding their emotional breakdown to cause this.

There is a 500 year gap in the future of the dreamworld which has turned into a Brave New World dystopia. New characters are introduced that also affect the world.

New characters stress, problems and their interactions start effecting the dreamworld as they discuss it in the real world.

For Heart of Keol1, Mr. Tabby joined the party...

And the story finally gives a brief but good glimpse of the inner workings of the main character's emotional baggage.

So far, the biggest event in Icebreaker is that one of the main characters lost his sweater... joy

But quite some updates later, he finally got it back!!!

Okay I'm kidding, there's quite some foreshadowing and character introductions going on. But I'm still at the beginning of the story.

Oh! I love this topic idea! :'D

The biggest thing that happened this year in Runewriters is that Æmber (not psyched about being the chosen one) and Xira (secretly psychic) joined the party!
1

we found out Xira might have ulterior motives????

the necromancer briefly got turned into an (adorable???) angry squirrel

and we found out Tareth is a huge fan of RW's version of Twilight

.....okay that last one isn't actually important, but it's a tiny character revelation I've been looking forward to for a long time now xD

As for The Angel with Black Wings, 2016 revealed some kind of a glimpse from the past.

Also the reason why Mara was constantly bullying Ray.

2016 Also marked the first appearance of an Archangel.

Right now, the biggest accomplishment for VCvsDvsCFAD1 was starting it, but a big hit is going to shake things up a bit, soon e-e. CHAN CHAN CHAAAAAAN.

(Look how fluffy it is!)

@MST3KFan Yay for romance! I hope they don't break up right away XD

@KoreanTacos One of those things is not like the other... Killer Pumpkins were totally in in 2016! I wonder what next Halloween's thing will be.

@Galebound Sounds like an important thing to learn... Poor kid!

@AnnaLandin Yay, the antagonist! I like knowing the bad guys, so I know who to hate. Also, so I know what the heroes are up against!

@indagold That's a lot of stuff! Your comic must update a lot!

@keii4ii Yes, Lushaka, come join the feels pile... enjoy your stay, I hope your feet feel better. Also Ethan! You need help! Please come back to the modern day, I don't think there's therapists in Keol!!!

@miesmud You know the best time to wear a striped sweater? All the time!

@rmdooley Poor life choices, the best plot material for webcomics, ever! And he's got a gun, which you KNOW is going to go off and hurt someone.

@shazzbaa A lot has happened this year! I want to know more about the new characters, but I also want them to survive this night in the haunted house and now the Twilight clone, which is a dangerous work of fiction.

@avimHarZ Yes I love the character flashbacks! I like when we learn rules too.. angel rules sound awesome!!!

@Puppisama IT'S GOT A BUTT AND IT'S FLUFFY!!!! Happy new year you fat fluffy corgi!!!

Um, well I guess the biggest event is the dream seq.

The dream as a lot of symbolic references we'll explore later of course. But the main tid bit is that the main character is faceblind... yet he recognizes who this person is-- this person who has a huge gaping hole in the face-.

I guess the biggest plot development for Talesfromswipecity1 could have been one of three things...

  1. The return of Clarence Potts (aka the paddler) and him learning to use young danny lawson by way of mind manipulation...big story coming up there.
  2. The death of Roz's dad and her being adopted by the Finn family, lots of new plots coming from that one...
  3. Crimson Mask turning her back on her father and the life of crime...that's leading to another big story....

and the only way to find out is subscribe and follow. I take a little break between seasons (each season about three chapters/story's when a season runs i post daily on weekdays. )
