Hey you!
So how are you liking 2018 as a movie year?
I feel like 2017 was an unbelievably good movie year, so there was no way 2018 could keep up.
Still, some good stuff.
The movies I enjoyed the most until now were, not in any specific order:
I, Tonya
Probably my favorite one so far. Amaaaazing performances (finally a project that can really tap on Margot Robbie's star power) and a crazy clever script about a post-truth world. Love it.
A Simple Favor
Paul Feig is awesome. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively together, even more so. Crazy fast and crazy charming, it's like an indie neo-noir black comedy.
Isle of Dogs
One of those movies that just became MUCH more poignant months after being released, when we discovered the true atrocities happening in US borders. Chilling, yet so charming, stuff.
Mission Impossible - Fallout
The best action movie third act in years. It's the third act to end all third acts. Mission Impossible is amazing, never misses a step.
Set It Up
Netflix is KILLING IT this year and I've been somewhat obsessed with their romcom game. Set It Up is the best by far. It's so awesome it kind of ruined many romcoms I saw after. For All The Boys I've Loved Before gets an honorary mention though, being the second best to me.
The movies I'm most excited to see in this final stretch of the year are Crazy Rich Asians, Aquaman (because I'm a DC ho, I can't help it), Into the Spiderverse and holy craaaap Creed 2!! I'm SO PUMPED for Creed 2 I can't even!!
What about you folks?
How is your 2018 movie year so far?
