Your Favorite and Least Favorite Genre to write

This can apply to both comic artists and novelists.

For me, I love scifi. Traveling to new worlds and having adventures in space is very exciting to me..when I was younger, I would get books about the planets of the solar system. l also like fantasy.

I would never do a story where the main focus is Romance. There can be a little bit here and there and it would be slow as hell, but not the main focal point.

I'd say first, non-fiction. This is what is easier for me to write and most rewarding too, I suppose.

Then, fantasy.

Least favorite, same as you, romance.

However what I like (for fiction) is not to restrict myself to a specific genre for a story.
So in the end, my least favorite genre is any genre I'm forced to stick to.

My most liked genres to write are chosen because they're easy, I do not like difficult things and I currently get no incentive for doing it.

I don't understand romance, if it is not done right it makes me throw up in my mouth and I do not want my readers throw up in their mouths. Sci-Fi and HF can be such a chore to write because of the amount of research, not to mention some people have tendency to nitpick the smallest inaccuracies (deliberate or not) you make.

I love writing fantasy, sci-fi and romance! The world-building and creativity which goes into the first two is so much fun, while romance is just a feel-good indulgence which I love to just sink into like a warm bath full of happy-bubbles.

I find in order to like writing romance, you have to really enjoy character writing. I do, so romance is a natural extension of that. I'm not planning to write a romance focused series any time soon, but I do write some romance into everything else I do.

My least favourites would be horror (I'm a wuss,) historical (what do you mean, I 'can't just make things up'?) and any kind of academic writing whatsoever. (Always hated it, it's a miracle I ended up becoming good at it toward the end of my time in university.)

My favourite is comedy,

It gives an unique flexibility as there are almost no rules as long as it's funny. Which allows for lots of experimentation in every aspect of storytelling.

my least favourite is historical or non-fiction. (but may go with something inspired by history but with a disclaimer of any potential innacuracies), mostly because i am not exactly making a story, but retelling it as it is.....

Some alternative retelling may be interesting, but i think it would work better for fiction where accuracy is not expected.

I haven't written a lot of genre, but even within the ones I've written (at least attempted to), my favorite would be Fantasy. The freedom to build my world and system and explore my lore is very enjoyable.

My least favorite would be... Comedy. I'm not funny on writing and it's difficult to write good punchlines in a novel. Also, ironically, a genre that I find not very enjoyable to write but continue to write anyway is Romance. I like reading Romance, I like making Romance plot; but when it comes to writing them, it can feel like a chore.

My favorite is...I was gonna say "science fiction" but I better use the broader term "speculative fiction," because I don't specifically gravitate toward "science-y" things so much as...fantasy that isn't in fantasy-esque worlds. (Maybe that's the fancy way to put "animesque?")

My least favorite...that USED to be romance, but I'm warming up to it, I think. Once I realized it could be more than just hugs and kisses, and that it can be very, very specific to the characters who are experiencing that romance (I think Scott Pilgrim helped me see this), that blew my perspective wide open. So my current least favorite to write is crime fiction. Don't think I could pull that off in a million years. The gravity and strategy needed to make that work...beyond me.

I label my stuff as comedy, but I'm not sure that I'm all that funny either....Comedy is just my default if it isn't any of the other tags xD

Kekeke, "funny" is relative for everyone. I just find it difficult to convey something steadily hilarious in a medium as limited as a novel. Saying witty joke once in a while isn't all that hard, but continuously being hilarious sure can be a chore~

My favourite genres to write are probably drama and horror. Fantasy and action would be in second place.

As for my least favourite, I'd have to go with crime and historical fiction, simply because I don't feel like I have the freedom to do whatever I want in those genres (personal opinion).

My favourite genre to write is action, my least favorite is romance but I like the challenge so I plan to write the romance in my comic in a slow progressive way, rather than the rushed romance of most shonen battle manga

Favorite: speculative fiction (a pretty broad genre that can involve elements from sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural, and historical fiction genres, and generally set in this world but with something that distinguishes it from our own version of reality)

Least favorite: romance.... sometimes I try to have a romance subplot but I don't really enjoy writing it, and suspect it shows.

Favorites--
Romance: Like, my own version. I don't think I can write to certain genre conventions as I can picture pulling my hair out if I tried to. LOL
Paranormal: I enjoy mixing ghosts and monsters with real life. A contemporary setting makes it easier, but I don't mind a historical setting either as I enjoy doing some research.
Historical Fantasy: I like the history part and enjoy grounding the work into something rich and researchable, but I also like the fantasy part as it gives a bit of leeway so that you don't get "actually-ied" by any nerds.

Least Favorite--
Mystery: I just don't think I can craft an intriguing enough mystery, plain as that haha. There's a lot of self-doubt involved. Like even with my mystery-lite comic going on, I always have the question at the back of my mind "Is this satisfying enough?"
Non-fiction: Just brings me back to the essay days of high school and college which I'd rather leave behind. Plus it's super difficult for me to weave a gripping narrative from cold facts. If it's about someone else I question if I'm doing them justice, or if it's about me it's a question of where do I begin. I don't like talking about myself haha.
