Your first thought when you uploaded your first episode to Tapas + Poll

My thoughts were something like: "this will make it easier for my friends to see the comic, and the shame that comes from uploading things on a public website will motivate/force me to draw better. Maybe, people I don't know will even like this".

At first I didn't expect a lot of readers apart from my friends and a few followers I already had... I just wanted to get more experience, learn the "rhythm" of publishing webcomics and become better at making them!

lol I picked "Tomorrow I'm Superstar", not because I ever expect my comic to be famous in any way, but because I stumbled upon Tapas quite on accident and wanted another platform to put my comic on, in hopes of having more people read it. And as an added bonus, I knew I'd be able to have more interactions with my readers on here!

I'm a site jumper, big on stats and the like so I was comparing stats that'd be earned here to Ao3 and Booksie, both have dropped in terms of "goodness" with knowing if someone's even reading or not. Overall I thought "meh this won't work, ooh a schedule feature" and uploaded chapter 1-3 on scheduled and just figured it wouldn't work out.

I did mine on Facebook and Instagram first, I decided on Tapas' for three reasons:

Needed a specific comic platform to post for better reach.

The pixel width.

Finally the creator dashboard.

Initial thoughts? So...superstar...? I'd say now though it's more of a place to put my things xD

I picked "tomorrow I'm going to be a superstar" mainly because I really loved the idea for my story (still do, I want to publish it) and I thought others would too. I wasn't expecting a major reaction but I certainly didn't expect ZERO reaction

My soul was crushed by the stats page and it took me a bit to really sit back and look at the situation as a big picture.

I wanted to improve my writing. That's what I decided was important to me and that's what I decided I was going to focus on. Since then, I've used tapas to meet new people and learn from them! I've learned a lot and I'm far more grateful for that than the idea of being a superstar

I had almost the same experience you did (I just had like 1 or 2 visits from my close friends and that's it x'D) but once you come to terms with that bad start and keep going the fun really begins<3 (aso good luck with your stories I'm sure you'll do great)

I experienced something similar, i ended up meeting and befriending people way more than i expected and while i still have the dream of making it big, i am enjoying the path and realized i already found an unexpected treasure (maaan, that was like those old cartoons with things like "the real treasure is friendship" XD )

"I'm gonna build a world..."

The Wonderful World of Whatever was one of my crazy shower thoughts. It was a lot different at first since it was supposed to have an actual cast of characters, but then I thought: "What if I connected it to this TV show I want to make when I grow up?"

The idea was to world-build the franchise through the comic and then hopefully get it pitched as a TV series with an actual story. But then I gave up on the TV idea and thus eventually decided to put the comic to sleep. Hopefully, WWoW will resurrect some other way, but for now, it's miniseries time

I have a world-building in my head and I need to publish it before my head gets very crowded and worse might forget some of it.

Even if it didn't like get a million views and thousands of subscribers in a year, that won't make me feel down and stop continuing.

My only wish of improving is to be quick on finishing a page which takes more than a week to finish thanks to my full time job and family and friendly time.

My main reason was that I wanted to read a comic like mine, but I couldn't find one that was exactly what I wanted, so I made it myself and published it as an afterthought. Then other people seemed to like it, so I started making more and really enjoying the publishing part too.

Totally scared out of my wits and thought it was a bad idea. But I really wanted to try sharing my work where it could actually be read. I was worried all the feedback I’d get would be bad.
But that hasn’t been the case!
