My favorite is fantasy romace. After looking at the novel section enough times, I noticed that fantasy romance is popular on here. Of course, I've also noticed that the majority readership here for novels is from another website, especially since the most popular fantasy stories are from those sites. Honestly, I don't know what genre is actually popular on Tapas.

As for why I like Fantasy romance, it's because I enjoy the new worlds and watching the characters fall for each other.

I think the most popular genres on tapas is Slice of Life and Boy Love. Neither of which I particularly like (although I do follow a few series in each of these categories....) Fantasy is totally my genre of choice.

Action in everything, doesnt matter what genre "sci-fi, fantasy etc." as long as you got some clean ass fights in your story, you got my subscription.

I read fantasy, I draw fantasy, so... yeah fantasy it is XD

But I love combinations of fantasy with any genre =) Sci fi and fantasy, romance and fantasy, action and fantasy... you get the drift =P

Horror for me.

I do enjoy supernatural and fantasy/scifi as well. But for me it needs to be something other than "D&D type stuff" with elves and dwarves and adventuring. Instead I prefer myths and legends, or surreal worlds.

I love psychological thrillers, but am very picky about it. I can only recall one psych thriller webcomic that I loved, and even that one kind of fizzed out in the ending (though the climax was absolutely beautiful in a horrifying way).

Aside from that, I'm less about genres and more about character types and vibes. I'm drawn more to calmer, more lawful and serious, and less to campy and exciting.

In order to explain my preferred genre, lets go into context: I was largely dependant on the available genres that were on Wattpad. So I couldn't list my work under multiple genres or subgenres.

I had to fluctuate between Cyberpunk and Magic Realism based on the year I was first getting back into writing after my hiatus with my first short story: The Blood Of Katolinio. So I ended up going with Dreampunk.

Yet now after basically getting tired of William Gibson, I now primarily focus on reading and writing "Bleeding Edge" science fiction. A subset of Mundane Science Fiction that focuses on technology that is advanced for its time, but has various bugs in development.

I like to think I'm diverse in the genres I like but then I went to the library today and I realized I REALLY hate romance these days-- it's really overwhelming how much romance is in every piece of media I consume.
With that aside I've always loved fantasy and sci-fi both together and separately.
I also really like dystopia /apocalypse comics if done well.
And recently I've been reading more magical realism and soft sci-fi
Oh, and horror freaking rocks-- hand me all that lovecraftian stuff

Fun fact, Magic Realism used to be considered indistinguishable from Soft Science Fiction in the early 19th century in painting. It wasn't until "Hard Science Fiction" and the cultural elitism that followed that created the distinction in American culture.

Because Magic Realism was meant to be distinguished from literary genres like fantasy in having the magic be only slight with a grounding in reality. It was also loosely influenced by Surrealism and Expressionism.

I really love mystery stories with a somewhat creepy undertone, maybe with fantasy elements mixed in. To be honest though my taste for story genres is all over the place. I like comedy too but only if it doesn't feel forced.

Nothing wrong with comedy, although I like indirect humor mixed with dark comedy. Not gallows humor, but more subtle.

ooooh, that's pretty cool. Hard Sci-fi seems to be everywhere you look these, so that's why I'd rather read stuff that doesn't lay it on so thick (but that makes me a huge hypocrite because my comic kinda borders the line between soft and hard sci-fi)

Yea when I was still on Wattpad, I made a joke that if you had a political compass as far as what aspects were hard scifi and what parts where soft science fiction, I'd say my work was soft science fiction that focuses on accurate portrayls of cryptography and hacker culture and programming.

But otherwise, has more in common with 12 Monkeys or Elfen Lied than anything by Heinlien.

I do believe Scifi hardness is more a hardness compass rather than a sliding scale though. I do hard programming, but soft in every other respect.
