[image] Inktober drawing from three days ago (didn't draw anything for yesterday or the day before).

These are pretty good!

I like the bug humanoid for "suit". @aqua03 Thats one cute cactus  Here's today's inktober drawing I just finished (for "vessel"): [image]

I think it's easier to make a comic look professional when in greayscale/screentone. I also just really like that black-and-white-with-screentone look

I'll start off. Here's yesterdays drawing ("suit"): [image]

This is actually a really interesting idea. That's true, but I was just at such a complete loss for the longest time that I finally decided to ask for suggestions. As you said @DokiDokiTsuna took a really good approach. To be honest, with this story in particular, everything always seem to go …

It's mainly meant for Nasty, but if it starts some rumors that's fine too. As for what the phrase/word will be, I'm not too worried about, since i think it'll be easier to figure out once I have the secret down.

Just start off drawing something fun. Enjoy the process. Look forward at what you can accomplish, not back at what you didn't. I'm actually in the same boat as you right now, but these things help me.

That's an interesting idea. not sure if it'll work, but I'll give it some more thought. I'll edit in some more details of the characters into the original post

I'm in the development stage of a slice-of-life/drama type story that takes place in a modern-day town. In one part of the story there's this girl (we'll call her Nasty for now) who's bullying a younger/smaller/weaker schoolmate. She's sort-of popular/"cool"--but not top-of-the-foodchain or anything…

Ah. By "politics in fiction", I actually meant real-world (not fictional-world) politics. So, basically any theme that can considered to be "political". I admit I'm at fault here, since I wasn't clear enough in the original post (I'll edit it for clarity) ... Kind of like someone trying to pic…

What do you mean by "in a way that people can decide to read it or avoid it,"? Do you mean make politics subdued enough that it can be ignored, or make both stories with and without it?

I'm playing this too.

This is definitely an interesting way to explore ideas. As an example, Trans-humanism is becoming popular around some circles, and a cyberpunk setting sounds like a perfect way to talk about that (not that you can't do it in any other setting, of course). too many writers miss this. They write…

I was definitely referring to structural politics. Obviously if you're writing a fantasy/sci-fi story, topical politics will have to play a part in your world-building one way or another. This is certainly true, but for the purpose of the thread what I'm referring to as "politics" are those ho…

No, I totally agree. My main goal with the the post was to spark conversion and hear a variety of opinions. It's certainly not a binary issue, even if it might've sounded like that's how I presented it with my phrasing.

There's definitely a huge problem with modern writers letting too much politics fuel their stories--especially when fantasy/sci-fi stories have give priorty to clear analogs to the real-world over actual world-building (eugh)-- but I think there is an approach you can take with political themes that…

So I'm working on a YouTube video, where I'm going to talk about politics and political themes in fiction. I already have a pretty good Idea of what I want to say, but want to have some other opinions. What do you guys think about the issue of politics in fiction? Do you think politics should stay…

I'm probably not the first or last one who's going to use this example, but Avatar The Last Airbender is the show I remember most fondly. I loved it so much that I made dozens of rip-off comics based on it. I've even re-watched several times in recent years, but with newfound respect for the incredi…

Making a good first impression is definitely worth the extra work. Good luck on your project.

Yes, I've definitely seen those super-short 5-panel episodes (notice I'm calling them "episodes" now, instead of chapters :P). Whenever I need to read my episodes to get through somebody buying coffee, I usually drop the series. It's tiring to read even if it's an old series you can binge. A super-l…

For the purposes of this thread "long" just means longer than whatever the usual length is

@lahin @crowstories @Freemints30 I'm sorry, I should specified that I was specifically talking about the web-comic format, and not web novel. Thanks for the responses though

I've been wondering, is it better to start off a new series by publishing multiple chapters or one extra-long chapter. The reason for not starting off with a single normal-sized chapter is that no one can really get a good idea of what the story is like from one chapter. No wrong answers, obviously,…

Some thoughts on the multiple-universe method of time travel, in which an alternate universe is created whenever somebody travels back in time (these are my own opinions and aren't meant to condemn other people's stories): This method seems to be the default approach right now. It solves the Grand…

Attack on Titan (first season). I haven't watched the whole anime, but have read all the manga (so far). Started binging it earlier this week, and I'm almost done with the first season [image]

I think that would be the worst nightmare of a commission, to be honest
