Hi, I'm an artist from Yucatán, Mexico, currently based in Guadalajara. I work with traditional methods, and am fascinated by the idea of telling stories without words. That's something I explore in my comedy/adventure webcomic, Mayor Montenegro.

Thanks for checking out my comic, @DiegoPalacios, I hope you liked it! I agree with you, I feel 'adventure' is the category that best describes it. Unfortunatley, Tapas doesn't offer that choice.
@skicoak, Thanks a lot for checking out my comic, I'm glad you are enjoying it! The art has indeed become more elaborated. Part of it, as you mention, is about the story setting, but it's also because I originally envisioned the webcomic as a way to promote the character, in preparation for a Mayo…
I really like your art style, @MatthewDavidGonzales, I look forward to see where the story goes!
I did like it, @zappy94x! Most of my wordless comics tend to be more about the intellectual exercise of narrating without words, but I've seen some examples in here of work that has real amotional resonance, and I admire that!
Thanks, @skicoak, I just checked it out, very cool work! Were you involved in that particular story?
It'd be cool if there was an educational category. But your comic is also funny, so I'd say it fits well in comedy!
Thanks, @sarrowsmith10! That was kind of my mental process. There is no "adventure" category, ufortunately. But I'll follow your advice and stick to comedy for a little longer =)
I agree, I'd probably have gone with "adventure" if it was an option, since it doesn't imply the kind of images/expectations that come with "action", "fantast", or "sci-fi".
That's happened to me to, @inkorporate. I'd discover a book that would seem to be a clear influence on a work I created before finding that book! I guess that's just the way ideas float in the aether! I agree, Geoff Darrow is amazing!
Thanks, @millanmarcusmarc, and thanks for sharing your work! It takes courage to display the raw emotions you show on Forget Dreams, I appreciate that! The link to Makaeia seems to be broken, though, I can't open it!
Very cool, @Aura-Redwood! And @zigmenthotep, you are versatile! It's a completely different style than Slugworld!
Hey, @millanmarcusmarc! I don't know if you mean my work or some of the other really cool things shared by other posters on the thread, buth thanks! Do you publish on Tapas? If you do, share a link!
Hi guys! I started posting my webcomic on Tapas a couple weeks ago. I'd say it is an adventure series with comedic overtones. Though it definitely has action, and fantasy elements, I felt putting it under those categories could set the wrong expectation, so I opted to place it under comedy. However,…
Very cool work, @inkorporate, it reminds me a bit of Shaolin Cowboy!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Yeah, I agree if/when I decide to experiment with a croll format, thinking about the phone's vertical composition makes more sense than a horizontal PC screen. If I figured most people are still looking at this stuff via PCs, I wouldn't even consider changing my traditional page layouts =P
The speech bubbles are not an issue since the comic I'm working on is wordless, but I totally get your point that a scroll format can be as creative and innovative as a traditional page layout. I guess I'm kind of old school myself, but perhaps that's a good reason to experiment with something diffe…
Thanks, guys! Your input has been very helpful! Perhaps, as @IdiotWithPencil says, a vertical layout would allow me keep playing with the composition, and bring out more.of the details, as @joannekwan says (thanks for your kind words!) @alarnia: That SJ page is mind blowing!! Right now I've done …
Hi guys! I've been on Tapas for about a week now. I've been posting comics I had already produced for my own website, my plan being to eventually have them running in parallel. One thing I've noticed looking through other comics here, is that many of them are formatted as a scroll of single panels…
Thanks, @alarnia, that's really useful! ...and cool comic, by the way!
I was not even aware this was an option! Does it play automatically or do you have to click on it? Does anyone has an example I can check out? Since my comic is wordless, I think music wouldn't intrude too much, and it could be a cool way to set a certain mood. I would have to post full chapters as …
Thanks, @KoreanTacos! That's one deceptively twisted comic right there! Pretty funny stuff!
Let me know when it's up, @ThoughtfulBoxful2.0!
Thanks, @ThoughtfulBoxful2.0! Both suggestons are great, The Moth And The Flame is incredibly sweet, and one of the best examples I've seen so far about ways to convey deep emotions without dialogue in comics form! Fantastic! And 100 has an incredibly original and interesting formal approach. I've b…
Thank, @indagold! I enjoyed both your recommendation and your own comic! You have a great handle on how to use pacing to convey a mood. Plus, you deal in a sensitive way with issues rarely represented in comics form, and that's always worthy!
Thanks, @zigmenthotep, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Indeed, some of my favorite comics are by 70s artists such as Moebius and Druillet, so I guess a bit of their influence shows through (not that I would put myself anywhere near their level!) Judging by some of the stuff I saw in Slugworld (cool stuff…
Thanks, @Vicious_Knid! I'm glad you found it easy to follow... narrative clarity is always my main concern, since I can't rely on words to clarify whatever the art fails to convey! Regarding what Mayor Montenegro is and where the adventures happen, for now it's deliberatedly ambiguous, since I fee…
Thanks, @Vicious_Knid, I enjoyed both of your recommendations. I also checked out Gombik, which I quite enjoyed too!
Wow, talk about an ambitious undertaking! Great recommendation, @DaniBoy, thanks for sharing!
I know what you mean @panda3291, it can be a real struggle to find ways to tell something without words, and of course there are things that are virtually impossible to express without them! Sometimes I want to kick myself for sticking to it, especially when I'm on a narrative jam. But, when I find …
