This might be an unpopular opinion, but I like to use regular old colored light blue and bright red pencils. Just very, very lightly.

@Kimoisempai I feel like I've improved significantly since the first strip I did, and since I started out a complete 100% beginner to comics, manga, and cartooning, I know I've got a long ways to go. I am just looking for how to go about helping myself improve. @allenthomas Oh believe me, I'm al…

Oh wow, thank you so much. I like your ideas on a rounder Penguin and fixing Pixy's hair (It's difficult to find a good hairstyle to work with, much like real life! lol). That link is very helpful too, I'm going to do some character design sketching later using that link! smiley

Hi welcome to Tapastic! To be honest, I didn't even know what ComiPo is (I had to look it up). It looks fun! The only way I've found to log onto forums from your phone is just go to the Tapastic webpage and log in through that. That's how I do it, anyway, when I can't get to my computer. Hope you e…

Thank you, that's very smart advice! I do like my chibi-like characters, it's just I don't see (or I can't find) very many cutesy chibi/cartoony like styles to learn from.

Thank you! smiley I'm glad you mentioned the size of it, I felt it was a bit too large but I've gotten comments saying that previous strips were too small and everything was looking a tad squished and cluttered. I think I may have gone a bit too big. Thank you, I will definitely adjust the size of it. smile

This might sound stupid, but I don't really know my target audience. I just try to go for clean, simple goofy humor that seems to hit many different people. Could you please specify what you mean when you say I need to work on my art more? I'm still trying to find the right style that I like drawing…

Hi! I'd like it if someone could please check out my comic Pixy Byte and let me know what you think. It's about the life and adventures that Pixy, Penguin, Flippers, and Poot go on on a weekly basis. Could you please check it out and let me know what you like, don't like, and what could be improved…

You make a lot of great points. smile I didn't really think of that to be honest, but it does seem more likely that people would take that thought. I would, as a reader. That is why I kind of wanted to figure out how to tie it into my comic strip series. Perhaps a "guest appearance" from someon…

Art raffles and q and a's are really good ideas, thanks! Although from what I've seen, they do well with quite a large following. I'm not there yet, I don't have many followers, I was brainstorming ideas on how to make a suggestion day as a sort of way to get people interested in my work more. Somet…

Hi! My comic is called Pixy Byte! It is about a Pixy, and her life and random adventures with her friends, Penguin, Flippers, and Poot! I update every Friday, but I decided what would be fun is if I had a day where I let people comment on what they want to see/want me to draw in my comic. I just don…

That makes a lot of sense, thanks so much for the ideas! I really like those ideas! I might try those out! Thanks again! smiley

Your comic is also more square than mine, mine is completely vertical, and I don't really want to completely change the layout of my comic strip just to be able to go on Instagram. Thanks though smile

I will definitely give Twitter a try! I am kind of dipping my toes in different places, I tried Deviantart and haven't had too much success there. Not much of a community, like here on Tapastic. I was going to try Instagram, because I've heard so many great things about it and I know so many people …

Wow thank you so much for all the great advice smiley I really appreciate it. I will definitely check out the videos and podcast you mentioned, and start looking for comics in the same genre as mine to learn from. The first couple strips in my series were much bigger than the ones I've been doing lat…

You make a great point, thank you. I really don't update more than once a week, I've played with the idea of trying twice a week, I might give it a shot sometime. I do have a Facebook page that I update a little more frequently than Tapastic. I still post the once a week comic on there but sometimes…

That's a really great idea. Unfortunately, no, I either just doodle or draw Pixy Byte comics.

Yeah I realized how much of a pain Instagram was when I couldn't do anything from my desktop. I managed to figure out how to get my art from my computer to my phone, onto Instagram, then I ran into the size problem lol. Just a big mess. The square comic looks good, but personally I wouldn't want to …

That's a good point, even if I did make the comic fit in the proportions for Instagram, the text would be impossible to read! Instagram really isn't nice to comic artists lol

Yeah I definitely don't want to post each panel separately onto Instagram, but I don't really want to create an all new layout of my comic just for Instagram lol. Posting part of a page sounds like a good idea, but I'd think some people wouldn't want to have to go outside of Instagram to read the co…

It seems like my views are dwindling and I think I'm doing something wrong with my comic Pixy Byte, although I still get good responses from people. What would make my comic more likable? Is there anything that you see that you like? Is there anything that you would change? What do you think needs i…

I heard Instagram is good for artists, but my comic Pixy Byte is a vertical comic strip, and the format of Instagram is rectangular/square. Is there a way I could still fit my comic strip onto Instagram? How? Thanks so much in advance smile

Thanks smile I'm definitely happy with the subscribers I have, it's just I'm unsure of where I should be at. I keep thinking there is a way to judge based on the 6th month marker, 1 year marker, etc. Because some artists on here have been here the same amount of time I have, or less, and their subscriber…

Yeah thinking long term, as apposed to day-to-day is really hard for me. The growth of the viewership I'm having problems with too, I don't know how well it should be doing at like the 6th month marker, 1 year marker, etc.

I mean, I enjoy creating Pixy Byte, and I have a great time interacting with those following my work, I was just wondering how others judge the success of their comic. I haven't been doing my comic for a year yet, and I have 18 followers, but there's not really a "time frame" of how well you are doi…

I know right? That's what personal FB is for lol

HI! Welcome to Tapastic! People here are very friendly and helpful. Pixy Byte is my funny, weekly comic about Pixy, Penguin, Flippers, and Poot, and all their adventures together.

I'd say once a week is good, any more than that and you run the risk of crowding someone's notifications feed. As a reader, I love seeing what the artists I'm subscribed to are doing, BUT I don't need 3+ notifications a week about them going live or what seems like line by line updates on their next…

Hi! My comic Pixy Byte is about the crazy antics of Pixy, Flippers, Penguin, and Poot! Here's the latest comic strip! [image]
