I decided to let it be cut off just to be able to move it closer to the edge but that can easily be ammended, thanks for pointing it out
Thanks for the input, I have gotten a 50/50 split everywhere else I've asked but this thread all seems to lean towards the old one which I'm currently using.
Hmm I can try making them easier to see, I tried to make the first one just very bright and eye catching. Thank you!
I have two icons I'm choosing between, one I just made and the old one I've been using and I realllly want an opinion. I also would like to know what kind of icons make you click on a comic? What's eye catching to you? Here's my new one: [image] And the old one: [image] I see a lot of peop…
I went ahead and applied because so many people said it was a good idea so. I tried. The thing is I really don't expect to be accepted so I'm not too worried, I just felt like I had to. Might as well, I think it's the next step up for comic making.
Thank you so much for the info. I'm afraid of applying because I am afraid of losing readers. I am afraid that if I somehow get accepted to Hiveworks, I'll end up losing my readers and gaining nothing. Do you think this is the case?
I CAN NOT promo this program enough yet still I have never met anyone else who uses it. It's Mac exclusive, but it's the best program I have ever used and I have used everything. Clip studio, photoshop, Sai, and more. The program is called Pixelmator and it has the cleanest, crispest quality lines…
I keep getting told to apply, by so many people all the time but on the off chance they accept me, I wouldn't want to walk away from all the subs I have here. I just don't trust that it would really expand my readership? I want more information, and I want to hear it from someone who's ON Hiveworks,…
The only issue with that is is that I hardly evvveerrr talk about my art to anyone irl. And especially when it's artist friends who talk about their art all the time... why can't I say something about mine? FB is a scary place to share so I try to be careful haha. Mostly just unrelated pics every no…
Basically everything Andrew Dobson/Tom Preston and Christopher Hart does and has done. I don't condone the ridiculous amount of backlash they're getting for their behavior now but damn. Being a dick to fans. Like you have to REALLY be a dick. Not just something out of context, they seriously cont…
I heard nothing about being on staff pick or daily snack I honestly had to be told what this was because it happened right as I joined and I was totally lost. I want to know what happens when people get selected for spotlight, I assume you gotta be asked about making a banner like those before me sa…
The person above me has got you covered but here's my dumb tips: If you have Copics you are SET my friend. Those are the best possible markers ever and I'd say second is Prismacolor but I completely gave up on Fabrecastel because it just.. sucked. But you can make anything work with determination,…
I thought about this but I don't KNOW. I just have always done this. Since I was an itty bitty church school baby I've made dumb comics. Used to be on paper then I learned to use a tablet when I was like... 9. I just thought it was what I HAD to do. It was the best possible way for me to tell a stor…
Yes yes yes good thread. I strive to make sure my characters have PLENTY of clothes to change into because 1. I like making dumb graphic t-shirts and fake clothing brands and 2. I've always loved series that do that. Here's a tip: Consider making Pinterest boards for your characters so you can j…
Yeah I'm really nervous and scared of rejection in general too. Often people want me to fail, fail, fail so sharing this part of my life doesn't seem like a very good idea. I had this one particular leech of a friend who drove me into the ground to the point I was miserable and losing sleep. They ne…
Really????? Oh wow I was never told about that! If you know where it is you should link me that'd be awesome... As for SH2 I lovvveee that game. My faves are Homecoming, SH3, and SH2. Getting lost in SH2 is like... practically mandated haha I got lost a gazillion times too. Nice to meet you! I'm…
Hi everybody nice to meet you all. c: I think I finally kinda get the hang of the forums. Feel free to come talk to me whenever I'm pretty chill about all that.
...About an hour or two. I joined then it was there I don't know wtf happened. I was also on it again yesterday for a little bit. [image] (Mine is The Settlers) That was a really cool day.
Tah-dah! (I also work at the local park sometimes.) [image]
I run every other day, god, that helps a TON. Some days my mental health really messes me up but sticking to an exercise schedule helps a lot and gives you a satisfying feeling like ,"Now I can chill and not feel bad!" Also please, please, please eat enough. Lots of people neglect to eat enough. E…
Your art does not suck!!!! It is very cute be kind to yourself. Also welcome, I just got here too I hope you have a nice time. I make The Settlers if you wanna check it out, no pressure or anything.
[image] I did an emoji challenge for my fave character in my comic (he's very pretty and if anyone wants a link to the challenge hmu)
Aw man thank you ;-; You've got great art btw.
Mannnn I wish I had better experiences. I mean, I did, some times. In high school I was the art kid and everyone knew that about me. I got interviewed for the yearbook, I got in the newspaper, I won a gallery award at town hall, I won probably 5 or so awards in art shows, and people regarded me very…
Yeah! It's really friendly here I'm enjoying it a lot thus far. I'm planning on being active here as much as I can. It's a much nicer place than offline, but most people don't /understand/ the world of comics unless they're involved so I guess it's understandable but good lord sometimes it's pretty …
It really sucked. I thought it was the first good thing to come from sharing my art with friends and then nope. God it was so bad. I almost had to get the cops involved too. Everyone should be really careful when they're offered opportunities in the art world, especially young women.
Geez man I kinda get that. My dad harped at me about how art degrees are useless and how I better not hope to go to art school. And I don't want to in the first place, but good god. All he did was talk about how impossible it is to be an artist and how it's pointless and I'll starve on the street et…
This happened as a result of sharing my art on FB. It also made everyone around me uncomfortable. A few months ago this design company (they do t-shirts and and stickers and stuff) approached me and wanted me to be an artist for them having been sent to me through a friend who showed them my art, …
Story #1 I kinda shared on another topic: I have this one artist friend in particular who tries to tear me down every time I even so much as mention any form of success I have/had with art. If I mention fans, or whatever, they get upset. They either straight up ignore me when I say things or get kin…
I asked this question on Comic Fury and was absolutely appalled at how terrible some people irl react when someone shares their art. Sometimes even aggressively. I have a bunch of experiences to share and I'd really like to continue this discussion because it's very interesting to me and kinda sad t…
