miHoYo has just released Genshin Impact, and I've joined the community! [:smug_01:]
Definitely this
Find a way to simplify the process, test it and keep the reference. A comic can be quite time-consuming, and you will need to adapt your style to a simplistic form. Example: use simpler shapes to draw the characters, a limited colour palette, avoid strong lights and shades, etc. Share the WIP. If y…
Hi! I'm running an adventure webcomic that has been a year on here. It would be great if I could reach 25 subscribers! My updates used to be short, but this summer I've made an extra effort to post more content per upload this month.
Thank you very much! I appreciate it a lot. <3
Honestly, it was because I wanted to save time. I'm studying for a degree and carrying on different projects, so I needed to make the drawing part as quick as possible. Yeah, I have the feeling that kids and parents will relate more to the story. I wrote the first lines when I was in high school a…
You made a very reasonable point there! [:smug_01:]
My comic is typically focused on the action and adventures the twelve-year-old characters' group live, so its level of romance is a number 1.5. That doesn't mean the relationships between them aren't deep enough (they are, in fact, complex), but they're not so interested in finding a partner yet.
Nereida "Eria" - Comic: Golden Podium [image] "Wait, WAIT. So now pears can TALK?! It even has a small scythe with it! Ugh, my head must be messing me up. Maybe I should rest a little bit."
Though the main character of my comic (Golden Podium) uses she/her pronouns, is canonically non-binary and can be referred to as they/them. It's implicit, but some of the characters' lines point so.
Sonic Movie, obviously. [:eyebrows:]
My current life is a mess. I started playing Pokemon Sword on Switch, then Sonic Adventure on PC and yesterday I tried Diablo III with friends for the first time. Now I can't decide which one I should finish first.
I would like to draw it but I only have this atm [image] I also make Instagram polls [image]
I focus on the characters a lot. I always want them to be relatable enough and have their unique backstory (it's such a challenge when you're writing a series with nine main characters like Golden Podium but it's rewarding at the same time). I expect the same when I read others' webcomics. I don't …
Yeah, same! Sometimes I feel like writing something chill but entertaining and others I'm into building a complex universe with its own rules, and I usually look for the same stuff I feel like creating on the internet.
There's not a definition of how a good comic, story or novel should be. Sometimes, when I watch a movie with friends, I become the pickiest critic ever and overanalyze it while my friends consider it " the best movie they've watched" (and vice versa). Why? I've realized I always expect a good story …
Hi everyone!~ I'm Junie and my action series Golden Podium Academy is named after a place who trains kids with physical skills to reach their dreams. Those who love stories full of adrenaline, character development and adventures are going to love it! (PS: currently updating it on Fridays).
It's just an artistic name I invented for myself, which is "Junie Thunderlight". June or Junie comes from the month I was born in while Thunderlight (Thunder+Light) is a reference to my first preteen years, the time when I got my electric superpowers and started saving the world. You might see here …
Sure, thanks for the link!
Thank you! Np, it's not mandatory at all, take your time and feel free to share it if you get to do it~
Exactly! Even having some tricks to avoid wasting my time, I don't post much per update (one page a week every time I can), but as long as you have something to post every time you have an update it's more than enough.
Keep the same schedule and draw every day. It doesn't matter if you only spend 15 minutes a day drawing, but make sure you have a routine and always start at the same time of the day (10am, 7pm...). This way you'll get used to draw faster. Get used to drawing with references. It will help you draw…
Hi again, authors! It's been a while since I last posted something on these forums - or even on my own comic, unfortunately. Seems like uni is taking me as their slave. [:cry_01:] These last weeks are exhausting me and I can't wait for Christmas to arrive so I can finally rest and keep drawing…
That's the point. I don't mind if people catch my references because it's someting I've done on purpose - and, if their intention isn't bad, there's no reason to be mad at them either. But there are readers who mention these coincidences to make you think your story isn't original enough. The thing …
I do admit some of my OCs reference Soul Eater characters, but I haven't been said my story gives Soul Eater's vives. Not yet XD
Yeah, sometimes people need to find those similarities to feel connected with the story and are super excited to find a comic with BNHA's genre. Other times they're just like: I'm sorry to say your story reminds me of one of those fanfics, despite it looks so much better than Boku no Hero. How unluc…
Oh, I'd say you should write whatever you feel you're comfortable with and not care about what others say about your work, so if you really want to, please continue your story
Some days ago I was telling a friend what my comic (Golden Podium) was about and despite both have nothing to be he couldn't help but compare the plot with the popular series/manga Boku No Hero Academia (because it's abot an academy for people with special skills and the title has the word "Academy"…
I'm Junie and mine is an action shonen taking place in this century. It's about a group of students with special physical skills. [:sip:]
Try thinking about extra features of her, like the way she moves or sees herself, or give her flaws. Maybe she's a cinnamon rol that is constantly hurt or has a mischievous side nobody knows. Maybe she's too calm and relaxed she falls asleep at boring places or is too sarcastic she make offensive jo…
