I'm the writer/artist/crazyperson behind Vanguard17, and a fan of well, so much. I'm heavily inspired by space operas like Star Wars, Macross, Gundam, but what I enjoy is so much broader than that.

I'm on instagram/twitter at the same handle I have here!

Anyway, read my stuff, I'll read yours. We'll have a rad time!

Here's my most recent dose of Vanguard17! I'm super excited to introduce my Hotspurs Squadron kids. [image]

Call me sold, just on the families and the explainer/infographic page! (Yes, I started at the beginning!)

I see it like this: - Inspiration - this kicks in when I'm listening to music that's appropriate for a scene, or becomes that way and it helps me imagine a scene, a person, or events. Like a good book, comic, show, or movie, this can help break block. Motivation - this is when you're just dying t…

Oh man. Since Vanguard17 is about space fighters but also a lot of interaction and dialogue, here's how I'd do it: I'd want to work with members of Project ACES for the flight combat portions and members of the Mass Effect team for ground and role-play portions. I'd work with both teams to help pr…

I did it once, I did pull it off, but I had to take a week's vacay to make up for how busy I was between my day job and other things I was involved in at the time. Even if you fall short, that's OK. Just so long as you really sweat at it.

My day job is as a graphic designer at an architecture firm. I like that it's letting me get my kicks in art direction and branding (as I'm a more strategic type than a nuts and bolts designer). Stuff I know about project workflow, planning, etc., is helpful on the logistical end. What I know abo…

Only 4 chapters in, so just one cover. But here's what I've got for Vanguard17! [image]

I always have an envy of, and respect for watercolor artists. I can't get over how well these are done and how well they're both composed!

I read the first few pages and got immediately hooked on your style. Count me in.

Hey, I'm running Vanguard17! It's loosely sci-fi but the aim is more of a space opera. The gist is that it follows two test pilots for a next-gen space fighter program, the squadron they embed with, their carrier, and the colony they're all on. I tried to create a diverse cast on a new-but-familia…
