This is interesting! I think it's also worth noting though that korean manhwa prior to webtoons was also heavily romance leaning. I'm just speculating but it's possible that's the style that gained traction in South Korea historically so it's just continued in webtoon form. They also have a rich mod…
I think it depends on the scenes too. I've been feeling more like a 7-8 for feel good/cute panels. When it comes to action sequences and such, I'm like... a 2? it just takes looking at one master artist drawing a dynamic action panel to remind you there's a long journey ahead haha
These are all good points. I chose somewhat for alot of the same reasons as stated above. If the critiques are coming from a sincere place (like a trusted colleague/collaborator) then I don't feel anything. I just take their advice, analyze it, and put it to use as needed. If it's a troll trying …
I can't describe how amazed I am by people who are good at design like this is a glaring hole in my artistry. I'm a total goof with composition and graphics.
I'll try playing around with Canva more! Practice, practice, practice til you get where you wanna be haha
Okay seriously how do y'all do that awesome typesetting that's amazing!! I struggle so hard with graphic design and it's not discussed nearly enough. Like do you customize the font? Or how do you do all the cool effects?
This was interesting to read through because I have the Worst time figuring out what to do with this. I've reached the point where my protagonists are physically ambiguous and people ask if they're male or female and what their pronouns are. I just can't decide and they end up like this I think I'm…
I have two big weaknesses, one of which I've just accepted and the other I actively think about
The one I generally accept is I don't describe physical appearances in-depth. You might get an eye color. Sometimes height? But I always end up describing touch and sensation so much, only to realize I…
This was such an interesting thread to go through! It still blows my mind people can get so good with a mouse. However, I'm starting to think if I got a left-handed mouse I'd probably be able to drawing too... Like many of us, I also use Clip Studio Paint (switched to it like 6 months ago after u…
Oh wow this is so sweet thank you!!
Love this topic and seeing everyone's introspection!
I think I've had some similar experiences with shedding pretentiousness older pieces from like 2014 are littered with dense faux-LOTR style descriptions that were an absolute slog to get through.
I've also recently started trying to play wi…
Like some others have said, I think length of time in the world determines how sad or empty I feel at the end. The only time I was desperate to make bonus content to keep the story alive was after completing a trilogy
As a very young writer at that time who had never completed a long work, I was…
Thank you so much!!
Comic is still in development but here's some art I was working on! [image]
OMG YEEEES!! I can't handle him in 2020 HD
I thought long and hard on this. Sesshomaru wins hands down for me [image]
I got my first drawing tablet in July 2018, and that marked my first attempts at digital art which you can see below. [image] As of now in 2020, this is one of my recent works. I chose an illustration for better comparison since I felt like it was unfair to use a comic panel haha [image] I'm …
This is pretty dark on the romance and horror front. Not sure if it's your cuppa tea but feel free! It's basically a guy who gets seduced by an immortal circus (no scary clowns)
Hey! I'd love to join too if there's room!
OMG I love it!! Nice redraw
Creators supporting creators is always great! Definitely gonna go through this thread and follow people in the morning
Here's mine as well https://www.instagram.com/k_kaawmics/

This thread is so cool oh man I love talking about and looking at different styles. I don't even know what I'd call mine...its definitely manga/anime with an emphasis on color? I think?

Yeah I agree with varying the line weight more. You have great faces and details, so it would enhance everything if you thicken the lines around the jaw/neck as well as throughout their hair. In the same vein, make the line weight in the backgrounds different from the figures. It'll help separate th…
What an interesting question! My villain hasn't appeared quite yet, but I think the villain would be supremely happy if they won everyone else would probably agree that the world is better in their vision...(very dubiously though).
This sounds fun! I'd totally be down to do something like this if people are interested
Yes fellow mystery writer! Just started reading yours. It's so far along and it's definitely interesting to see how mysteries can develop differently. I see that yours is very slice of life and slowly builds toward the mystery aspect. I think mine does something similar with the slow build. The s…
Great idea! Here's mine: https://www.instagram.com/k_kaawmics/
For anyone looking to read a supernatural-urban-fantasy-mystery (...you can tell I'm confused), here's mine! Here's the webtoon version for those who prefer it:
That definitely works! Wow thank you for doing all of this for everyone.
