There are a number of great articles here on building audience, which are great for newbies. However, I have a different sort of problem... Just wondering how I can build a following. I have just started my first webcomic and put it on several platforms. I get about 40 to 70 Likes on Instagram but on…
@gracemypresence @kiplothedungeoneer @Pizza_Agent @studiostepone @IndigoShirtProd I've checked out your comics.
Here is mine:
Share your comics and I'll read yours if you read mine. A page for a page though. Mine is about a boy who moves to Oregon in his grandmas old house. He can see things we can't. After a nasty fight he runs away and meets Mumbles. A half mermaid and half elf mermaid spirit along with Snowdrop a rabbit…
I'M IN SHOCK I'M DYING I LOVE EVERYONE!!! Sorry guys, I just need a place to scream because is late here and I have neighbors. MY HUMBLE AND VERY FIRST COMIC JUST GOT 1K SUBS!!!
This is my comic, it's got demons and superheroes and honestly a lot of shit that's gonna be cool af. We're talkin' Vampires, Elder Gods, Probably Ninjas, Maybe Demon Ninjas who the fuck knows.
Hmmm I think the ad revenue is kinda low. For my experience you need around 150 views to get $ 0,01, so you need A LOT of views to see some money in you account. Anyway, in comparision with other sites, like webtoon is pretty good. If I had on tapas the same views I had on webtoons, I would have…
Thanks for the repost on Lord Vincent’s article! That was a GOOD read!
Anything is better than nothing! While it's too paltry to even cover a chunk of rent (mind you I'm living in one of the most expensive places in the US), the pocket cash I do make from it (ink more than ads) is enough to treat myself to something nice every so often. It's a mood booster, so it's i…
As tough as I've had things, I'll consider any amount of revenue helpful.
I'm in that same zone. It's weird coz I can get out at cons and push my books all day but I clutch my fast beating heart and hyperventilate when it comes to commissions. @Merle trying to get to that level in Webtoons...but my hiatuses havent been helping.
(Tapas novelist here) I make a good $35 every six months (and only because of mass tipping events like Inksgiving). Sooooo enough for a tank of gas twice a year XD Of course the numbers change the more popular your work, and also depends entirely on luck with who your fans are. An author with more s…
Hard no for Ad Revenue and Ink support. Just like the others I am not even able to make monthly payouts (starting at 25$) to begin with. My Focuss is on Patreon and Webtoon. With the exact same pages through Add revenue and Patrons and webtoons Program I am able to make some, wich does help out my …
For me, not yet. I make less than a dollar each month at the moment so I don't get to withdraw funds that often. My work gets a few hundred views a week so it's not like I'm new to the site. Most of my art income comes from commissions still, but as I build my brand I believe I will have a decent …
My ad rev keeps being zero LOL, it has been months. Ink is a better income, I want to try to optimalize it. Nothing much, I just want it to reach a number that it can be liquified which probably gonna take long. I have a ko-fi too which is more reliable way of income, and I'm thinking about openin…
I agree with @Jenny-Toons assessment- ad rev & ink support alone isnt sustainable, but if you have multiple resources for earning money, then it does help to a certain extent. Aside from selling stuff at cons and an occasional online sale, I have a Patreon which helps in addition to the ad rev and i…
I use it to pay for my writing software subscription. I only make about $10 pcm from ink revenue (averaged out) and so I put it aside in my Shaxpir envelope and use it to make sure that I'm able to pay for that. It is nowhere near having an 'impact' on my income.
nahhhh ink support is more helpful than ad revenue, but for it to make a real effect on your income you need a popular series, active fanbase, and a really good strategy for incentivising tipping. i know ppl who make it work, but theyre also getting money from tapas premium, patreon, and merch sal…
It hasn't been long since I started uploading here on Tapas and what I earn through ad revenue and ink support is far from even 10% of the monthly income I'd need to live off writing. I do feel that it has a positive impact though. At the very least, I can use that money and invest it in research ma…
It's important to have multiple sources of income, especially in a competitive field such as comic-making. Personally for me, Ink supporte has shown more growth than ad revenue. But even then, the money I've made so far is good enough for a lunch or so. It's nice pocket change, but it won't make a…
For me, it isn't. It's kinda like when you start a Youtube channel, you'll probably get a couple cents here and there, but nothing you'll be able to live off of (unless you gain 2M subs and then get tons of paid promos, etc). So you'll probably have to update your comic consistently and gain a big a…
I have A web comic that needs 2 more subs to get to 25! Its about a young girl who gets taken in by a strange family, lots of found family and slice of life mixed with some modern fantasy, Take a look if interested! [image]
The way I combat that is I think to myself well, if I'm right and no one likes my comic then what would I do? Normally the answer is I'd still draw comics. I like it and it keeps me busy so that's really why I do it. If eventually other people are also into it that's cool too. Also that being said…
Hey everyone Del here. I have a series on Webtoons that had just passed the 2k readers mark before going on hiatus and dropping to about 1.8k. I know a lot of people really enjoyed reading the series but I had to keep putting it on hiatus because I did not have the funds to keep it going. I was wond…
Yes, for sure. Your current chapter size is easily 3-4 updates from any other webcomic. There are only pros. Create a buffer, give yourself some breathing room, not to mention more frequent (but smaller) updates will generate more traffic. Maybe save longer, full chapter updates for WEBTOON or so…
I noticed that too! For me It's best to have shorter updates then longer. Reason why is you will appear in the fresh section more often! Which also means more readers! I've grown to know fans love it when you update a few times a week! But then again my series is a comedy. If you're doing a series w…
I really don't think longer episodes are better for a lot of reasons. Scrolling so much can be tiresome and sometimes looking at a tiny scroll bar thingee makes it feel more like a chore to read than a pleasure to do so. Sometimes I'll put off reading something if the episode is too long or I'll ski…
Longer episodes read better--I'd like to post longer ones less often. However, the less you post the less visibility you have to be seen. Unless you have perfected outside marketing, smaller is better on Tapas. The Webtoon audience tends to like things longer, so you might cut that in half and do ev…
I started posting once a week with really short episodes, but I notice that was a giant gap in views after 5-6 episodes. Is tiresome to load a new episode every few panels. I ended up merging the first episodes to provide a better reading experience and start posting twice a month
I would split them up, too. Actually I had exactly the same issue where I was uploading really long episodes once a month, but I cut them and now upload every 2 weeks. It's brought more people in since because I'm in the fresh section more often.
I would say split it up. They are pretty long atm.
