Thank for the info and the new features but it still doesn't answer the basic question. Why is the support program being dropped? (It is all well and fine that it doesn't fit the future business model but that's a vague answer.) For me it is of minimal impact, I never put the proper effort into pr…

One thing I feel I should respond to is that a lot of people keep mentioning Patreon's security issues. Not knowing much about Patreon I can't comment much on the security of the system, but likewise no one on this forum has the ability to judge the security of Tapastic's support program beyond the…

Actually I'm as curious about what is the current business model is. I can't imagine ads are bringing in enough revenue to make the site profitable yet, and aside from the occasional paid promotion i.e. Kiyat Games I don't see any other revenue streams other than the support program.

If you are going to communicate like this please go away.

Thanks for the continued info.

Been busy for months and this is the first time I've checked the forum in a long while. Well you took the time to give a comprehensive response, and even though its months later I feel I owe you a response. I started by writing a much longer and lengthier response and just scrapped it because a lo…

I don't know how much revenue (let alone profit) the support program generates, but I can't imagine it being unprofitable. What makes a company decide it doesn't want the money?

Yes, I'm very curious what a novel is. As far as I can tell Tapastic's largest demographics are slice of life, and episodic stories of a particular genre. The episodic stories are pretty much graphic novel type content is that audience just so different that it makes sense separate them? Or is so…

The actual suggestion will be surrounded by *** if you don't want to read all the reasoning. I realize there are several discussions on the operation of the front page here already, but I feel they do not adequately express my opinions or resolve my issues. First off all I acknowledge I speak as…

It might be best to talk to Brian or one of the other programers on staff. What I want to do is build a series of data scrappers to analyze my audience as well as analyzing the overall behavior of the site in general. I can already do this the information available in the html tags. However the…

Over the past two years I've always made comments on how the site operates, especially the front page. However I want data. Instead of speculating I want to back (or abandon) my opinions with hard information. Using nokogiri in Ruby it is relatively easy to scrape information (views, subscribers,…

Unless you already have a large audience and have the experience where you know you can trust yourself to work on a project long term don't go the paid route upfront. If you have the chops you be able to build a large audience fairly quickly due too the nature of the subject matter.

Well there is Brawl in the Family, which recently ended. Made over 320,000 net in a pair of kickstarters research that first before worrying about legal problems.

I did five years of college though honestly the education wasn't that great. If you are in California you want to study under this man: http://laafa.org/portfolio-item/ron-lemen/ He teaches at Laafa, which is an expensive professional art school in LA, but he has a private studio he teaches cours…

Finding good CPM information online is next to impossible, so it is hard to figure out what the threshold for ad revenue is. Do I need 25,000, 40,000 or 60,000 views a month to crawl over that barrier? I realize CPM fluctuates, but having at least a vague idea of the target would be nice.

I like the change, but there's one small issue. Aside from those already receiving ad revenue nobody has a clue how many pagesviews = $25. Give people access to that information and people will chase that number.

As for multiple comics sharing the same banner space, kind of like this: http://www.penny-arcade.com/ Granted it isn't a rotating banner but it kind of demonstrates the idea. As for the statistical observation of user behavior (ie having an the user make an extra click) ... interesting, that is no…

Instead of the current collection banner system where you have to click on the banner to see the comics in the collection, it would be in everyone's interest to eliminate that one click. Every click more people have to make the more likely you are to loose people. Have the banner featuring several o…

Whatever is being done I hope Tapastic keeps it relatively competitive financially. As in setting revenue percentage to similar or better than potential competitors. This type of business works best when creators and the company's interest is mutually served. Make sure creators get a better deal …

Wow this is actually handy. But is there a better way to pass on this information to readers? It seems like not many of them venture in here. Heck I'm just noticing this moment that this was posted over three months ago.
