Hello everyone! I'm new here on tapas, although not really new to the writing game (ten years and counting lol), and I thought I'd throw my super queer* fantasy world on here to see how the community embraces it (if at all... we're a smol group, it seems xD).

Well no, I've just happened to stumble over you in this very thread lol; And I'm JUST now reading into your Alien Detective! Why didn't I do that earlier? xD

Tapas feels a lot more like an lgbt refuge somehow, or maybe that's just me. But folks, if you're reading this thread, I tell you, go click on the Alien Detective. It's hilarious and I am loving how the protagonist is just referred to by the pronouns "they/them". Totally not used to that yet, just goes to show that I need to surround myself more with non-binary people. ^^

Being LGBTQ+ isn't a central point of my novel and neither is romance, but my main character is gay. I'm working on rewrites to make the language and references less ham-fisted, but I'm all in all not dissatisfied.

I have to shamelessly plug my story again because I made another thumbnail that might show off more of what's actually in the story (also, I'm facepalming at the SIZE of that thing I threw in here earlier, sorry xD).

Mirai's Tears: City Asunder | Tapas

—City Asunder being the first book in a series I'm planning. Book 1 is set in a powerful city of commerce between humans and other species of the continent—aaand it just happens to be in danger of collapsing. Whoopsie.

My protagonists are two men, one gay and one bi, and when I say "queer world", I mean it: "gender reveals" are done by the person who comes to terms with their own gender, there's no real concept of straight or lgtbqia+, as everyone is just accepting of pretty much any form of love and gender identity/expression. It is a pretty European-influenced world, I'd say, but with steampunk-ish aesthetics and airships and all, so if you dig that and m/m romances, this is for you.

I also recommend y'all to click on @Maps' Vow of the Sentinel! I've only managed to read a bit so far, but the sense of atmosphere you're getting while reading is just great (be aware that it's pretty dark/mature, though <3).
