Yes! Thank you for the encouragement!
Oh, I hadn't even thought about doing it like that! That's actually super interesting, so I'm sure I'm going to at least try doing that a few times over. Thank you!
Thank you so much! That really helped! And as for your tested hypothesis, I kind of expected it would be like that, and I have no problems with it. I already have one novel up here that's finished and one that's still a work in progress, and it's not nearly getting the numbers I'd get with my fan…
I get where you're coming from, I wouldn't call the whole Fifty Shades situation a success story either That's the whole reason I'm asking for advice and other writers' feelings on the matter in the first place.
I do realize that I would have to completely rework the fic and characters to make it…
Yeah, you've got a good point there! I keep forgetting I'd have to change the characters to not be too familiar as well. Thank you!
Hey guys! This entire topic has been on my mind for months now, so I figured I should go ahead and ask. I have a couple of AU fanfics up on AO3 that are so far removed from their original source material that they're virtually just a round of name changes and removal of clever references away from…
I'm considering taking one of my novels out of an extensive rewriting hiatus early for Inksgiving. I'll post the new version of the prologue on the first day, and then for every (yet to be determined) goal that's met, I'll update an episode. At least, with college in the way, I think that will b…
I wouldn't use the site any differently, but I do feel kind of iffy about putting direct fanworks on a platform that wasn't intended for them. I mean, it's not as if I've never considered putting my so-AU-it's-practically-an-original-work fanfic on Tapas, but at the very least, I would have chang…
It's going to take me a bit of meandering to get to my actual point but I promise this is somewhat going somewhere, I'm just trying to summon my knowledge on art and design after midnight which always gets "interesting". I'll use some covers/icons I designed for my own novels as an example. [im…
Like people mentioned before me, Build That Buffer. As much as your subscribers may wish for it, you won't always be able to work on The Thing that you're doing, so always make sure you work ahead and have some content available when you can't work on The Thing for whatever reason. Scheduling is y…
While slice of life isn't a bad fit for your comic, I think it would fit even better in the comedy genre tag. The fact that you can't select two genres for non-premium series on Tapas is a bit frustrating, but what I would personally do is slap on the comedy genre tag and then tag it as romance an…
Fanfiction dot Net also has a website for original works, https://www.fictionpress.com/ I don't know how many (active) users it has, but most genres seem to have well over 1K entries and it works exactly the same as Fanfiction, if you're used to that. Personally, my stories never did too well th…
Well, I've got a romantic coming of age story in a fantasy setting right here on Tapas, but if you'd prefer a romantic comedy with multiple ships, a bit of drama and dynamics that actually come into play, I'd like to direct you to my fanfiction Crazy, Millennial Love Story. Most characters are in th…
I wrote a bit of a post on marketing comics externally in another thread. Not every bit might be as relevant as the next, but you might get something useful out of it.
I personally haven't run into this problem (yet), but I think I would post book 1 through 4 in separate 'novels', but make it very clear in the description that they're part of a series.
If you like stories that invite shipping and have supernatural elements, and want an actual book to hold in your hands, I'd recommend Good Omens. It's basically about an angel and a demon who like living on earth so much, they team up to stop the prophesied end of the world (and the ensemble cast de…
I think you might enjoy this one
If I take my fanfic into account, definitely option 4: All of the above, but for my novels I do try to plan everything out in as much detail as I can before I actually start writing it, or at the very least have a beat sheet in place so I know where I'm going.
Ok, I said "stop wherever you are", but if I really were to do that I'd still add a summary of where the story was going and how it was going to end, so as to give readers some sort of closure to the story.
Batman is a billionaire, a philanthropist, and yes, he fights his colourful rogue's gallery. But deep down, I feel like he sympathizes with them, too. The people he fights are often people who have been hurt, just like he has been hurt, but allow that hurt to manifest in a different, more malevolent…
At that point, there are really only two things you can do to really deal with it. Either, you look at your marketing strategy, Ask yourself questions in regards to how you're trying to get people to read your comic/novel. Who will enjoy my comic/novel? How old are they? What else do they enjoy…
A mix of Disney princesses and soft butch lesbian disaster feels in a fairy tale setting -- featuring an adventurous princess and a shy squire -- as told by someone who read a few Terry Pratchett books but can't (and not likely will ever) get his type of comedic tone down.

The Princess and the Squire updates on both Thursdays and Mondays! Synopsis: When Princess Tiffany's bodyguard has to leave her to go on a mission, he leaves his squire, Noah, behind to guard the princess in his stead. It doesn't take long for Tiffany to fall head over heels for the squire, despit…
