Oh boy, that's a lot of questions! : D I have two ongoing series that are completely different with style and genre, so the answers for them are going to be different ( : TMIC is a gag-a-day comedy serie, and 6,75 is a long, story-based fantasy serie.

1) On average, how many views, likes, and comments do you get when you upload within the first 1-3 days?
TMIC: 200-300 views, 40-50 likes and about 3-10 commets
6,75: 30-40 views, 10-15 likes, and about 1-4 comments

Ahh something in the middle? i really want to do this stuff for living, but I know I'm not doing everything I could be doing- I don't have twitter nor facebook page for my comics, I've never been at convention and I don't try to get votes on webcomics' listing sites. So I'm putting a lot of time in drawing (...currently updating almost daily) but not so much in promotion.

I try to comment on every single episode in series of people I consider my tapas friends. When I discover a new series, I usually go on a commenting/liking spree when catching up- and depending on author's responses, I keep commenting on new episodes or not c: In other series, I comment only when I have something more to say than just "nice"... but that doesn't happen a lot ; v; Also, I'm more likely to comment if I see that creator replies to comments.

Plus I hate work and money (I even couch surf, and I'm technically homeless, since my mom recently passed.), so I'm pretty damn serious when it comes to my writing. I'd love to get paid for it so I could reimburse my supportive friends. Writing will always be my main outlet.

Fantasy/psychological fiction. The world we have exists after the creators of it destroyed this world, though, so sci-fi elements and other stuff exists, too. We even have a city dedicated to skating. xD

I joined because of the Writer's Contest ads on Instagram, which is the only form of social media I use. Thought it might be a good place to post for some feedback, because none of my friends read.I found most stories from the contest, but lately I check profiles in the forums for the creators work and find some really interesting looking stuff!

6 on my actual story. 1 extra on it's lore, so I'm just kicking off.

I only use my phone for notes, calling, and texting. So Desktop all the way.

I comment after some of the episodes I read. If I have a reply to the author's note at the bottom, or something stood out to me in the work, I'll usually speak up. Which I usually don't do online at all. I'll like something if I really enjoy its concept, or the way the ideas are portrayed. If I like the way something's written, that's usually a comment, rather than a like.

I always like when a comic I subscribe to updates, unless I actively object against the content. I like updates from other comics when I see something in particular that I enjoy, like a beautiful image or a cool line of dialogue. When I find a comic I really like, I usually make a comment on the latest update to say why I think it's great. I also comment if I have a question, or think of something funny to say.

As for comments, I rarely speak up these days after some not so great experiences For creators I feel more comfortable talking to, I'm very likely to let them know what I liked about the update, but these creators I tend to see them on Discord/ Skype/ etc... so my "comments" may end up being Discord conversations rather than in the comments section?

Have you ever seen a comic review site mention Tapas? Daily Snack unfortunately isn't relevant content. Premium costs money. No thanks. Popular is not relevant unless you read BL/LGTBQ. Sometimes we look at Trending but you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the homepage which we often forget about. Content on Fresh is "a needle in a haystack" so we don't use that.

We always try to "Like" most pages we read unless something is very underwhelming. Creators are spending many hours producing free content for readers. It's a sign of respect.

Some series like Apricot Cookie(s)! we comment on each update. Other series like Four Leaf maybe half of the time. Anything we actively read we try to always comment at least once in a while, maybe 20% of updates?

We prefer magical girl and moe/kawaii content. Stuff like that we will always try to support with likes, comments and the occasional tip.

Unfortunately with the search function being largely broken, it's very hard to find specific content. The genre system could use a major overhaul to help readers find what they are interested in.

As a creator, it's increasingly difficult to find new readers/subs without resorting to advertising. We're spending 5x more daily this year on ads vs. last year to maintain a ~200/subs a month growth rate. Where are all the readers going?

Popular is not relevant unless you read BL/LGTBQ.

I think you provided many important insights and valid points here, but I object to one small thing: Unlike BL, LGBTQ isn't really a genre, but rather a spectrum of themes that can be present within any genre. With a genre, like BL, you can "not be into it", and therefore avoid such comics. But it seems strange to me to avoid comics that revolve around LGBTQ themes, since they can be so very different, so you would probably be missing out on content you might really enjoy. I think I see what kind of comics you are referring to, and you might be right about them dominating the Popular section, but there are so many interesting and artistically ambitious comics with LGBTQ content that never make it to popular.
(If there is indeed a clearly defined genre called LGBTQ, please correct me.)

We're just trying to make an observation, not turn this thread into something else. The observation is that much of the Popular section is "tagged" with things like BL/GL/etc. Yesterday 60% series on the homepage were tagged one way or another. But what if you don't read those tags? It's not very relevant content to that particular reader.

This is why we hope at some point readers can set preferences to get a more customized experience on Tapas so that the homepage becomes a highly clicked experience for everyone.

Also, Amazon and many bookstores have "Gay & Lesbian" as it's own subject/category. So guess we should say category rather than genre.

COMMENT: I'm often tired and my social level energy is quite low. So I don't comment a lot. Especially with people I'm not friend with. I binged read a lot since I'm busy so I'd probably comment on the lasted episode after binged-reading.

Well, here's my answer for Twinblades Studios since Bee Happy Card Shoppe uploads only once a blue moon.

1) 40 views, 7 likes, 4 comments (again, not counting our own likes, views or replies)

2) I'd say we're pretty serious? Although Twinblades Studios has mainly been a practice series, so we've been dropping interest in continuing. Both of us are moving on with a real story-driven series. We do hope that we'll be able to scratch a living off of it, although now that reality has been sinking in, I personally am not sure if I'll be able to do so. Also, I've been busy as of late, so both webcomics and collab comic has been suffering in updates.

3) Slice of Life, Romance? Hana's might have more action and drama.

4) Like I said before, I've been pretty busy, so I don't usually go hunting for comics. Hana spends the majority of her time creating her content, and only reads stuff that I highly recommend. I do read comics, but only when I'm in a rut, or have zero motivation. I found the comics that I have subscribed to via either front page (some of which are premium), and checking out our subscriber's reading list/their own works. I like to try figuring out what kind of people we are attracting.

5) In total; 205. We finally broke 200 after months of bouncing between 195-197.

6) Desktop, 95% of the time. Which means I don't usually see the Daily Snack.

8) Rarely. I used to comment more, but I'm finding less time to socialize on Tapas. I only comment when I find something particularly funny, or the artwork unique. Or want to make some interesting comment to highlight the humor of the content. Or if I wanted to talk to the artist directly; try to pick at their brain and see how they handle their craft. I used to find that pretty cool. ^^
As for likes, I started out with liking stuff only if they had particularly appealing art and ideas. Just because I didn't push the "like" button doesn't mean I didn't like the comic, but I used the "like" button the same way I would a "bookmark" button. Which isn't the most justified excuse since I hardly look back at my "like" history to see other comics for inspiration.
Well, that habit stuck ever since; I should change that.

I almost never check these things, I just looked at my dashboard and it seems I get roughly 100 views each day after and update for 2 days, then it drops to like 25-30 the rest of the time.(But I don't think that is just for the update, I think it is including views of people who may read my whole series and just found it too) Each update has around 17-22 likes, and I believe I get the low end of that within 2 days of updates. About 4-6 or so people comment regularly on my updates- but I reply to them and sometimes we have conversations, some number of ocmments can range based on the conversations.

This is just a hobby, but I still like to work on a schedule and publish every week.

I'm a college student studying molecular biology and psychology while also aiming for med-graduate school so...I guess just for fun? I mean, of course I would like to get paid for my work and be able to work on my comics for full time for at least a while but that doesn't seem like a possibility at the moment :').

I find them here, in the forums, in trending, and popular. Rarely in daily Snack, Premium, or Daily Featured. Also, a fair amount from networking on Twitter!

Currently 464.

I use both pretty evenly. If I'm desperately checking my own comic on a update day, I'll read comics on the Desktop. If I'm out and about, on my phone.

Almost 2 years (2 months until). I started posting my comic practically the moment I joined.

I try to comment when I really appreciate the art of a page, or just love an interaction or line or something. Generally, I'm not one to ship or try to predict where the plot is going, but I tend to focus on the page. I'd say I comment about 1/3 pages when I'm a consistent reader for something. For liking, generally every page of my subbed comics and when I'm reading new ones.

I upload something everyday. I am running several comics and there's rarely a day I don't put out an update on at least one of them unless there's a specific reason (got sick, got busy, fell behind on buffer, etc)
Since I have multiple, an average for any of them is also hard to pinpoint.
I guess for the survey's sake I'll say I get around 20k views a day for the first 1-2 days after an update on Bloodroot, which is the comic I have that has the most stable stats. Subs gain is around 30-40 a day. Used to be way more but since Bloodroot is a mixed bag it's becoming hard to grow with it. Which is why multiple comics is a helpful method.

I pay my bills with my comics. I am useless for pretty much anything else so if my comics flop, I'm screwed.

It's a broad range. Most commonly, though, my comics usually involve one or several of these: Paranormal, Psychological, Horror, BL, Erotica, Romance, Comedy

Most commonly I find them on the popular page, daily snack, tapas banners/ads, or in the freshly published premium section. Even moreso lately since they started bringing in more gay content (especially the more mature kind) in the premium section. However with this it has also been brought to my attention just how low the ad availability is now, so until it's improved there's no way I can read the things I wanna read.

I guess another thing I should mention here is that I am LGBT myself, and sticking to the first page or two of popular will keep me mentally safe from toxic creators most of the time. I have to take enough insults on the basis of being trans and gay so I would rather avoid content from people who make fun of/complain about our current rising visiblity.
I'm pretty quick to unsub from people I see displaying such behavior. Even if it isn't straight up attacking us, it's attempting to push us back behind closed doors so they don't have to see us by making smug remarks and making us seem annoying. I could go on forever about this but I would only make more enemies by doing so

I use the app for reading and desktop for checking my stats and browsing for comics.
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I can't find the collected popular section on the app.
Not interested in fresh or trending because I want to avoid unneccessary frustrations and dysphoria.

10 views, maybe? 1 like, if I'm lucky. No comments that early on, but have one reader who usually comments eventually.

It's not my day job; I take it as seriously as I can and still maintain my sanity. I'm more a writer than an artist.

I fail spectacularly at being categorized. It's mostly humour/slice of life/gag-a-day stuff but I've thrown in science fiction, magic, yuri, current events... yeah, I don't recommend this plan.

Almost always word of mouth, and often off site, because I rarely have time to search around. Sometimes I'll spot something from the forums.

Generally comment elsewhere if I feel I have something to say, or if I notice that no one else is speaking up. Always comment back on anyone who says something to me, at least initially. I tend to put far too much thought into phrasing and such, so I only consider commenting if I have 10 minutes or so to spare.
