It's highly common in anthro comics - even mainstream movies do it, such as Zootopia. A common trope is having a predator animal (say, a fox) fall in love with a prey animal (say, a rabbit).

I suppose it's a bit weirder than same species anthro pairing for me, but not by a lot.

I guess it boils down to the fact that if I am already following the story and invested into an anthro pairing (and I am not big on anthro at all), their species being different doesn't matter much at this point
And as previously said, there's definitely a market for that.

In an anthropomorphic setting like Aggretsuko, Arthur, or Zootopia, sure. Everyone's actually human, and the animal form is a shorthand for their personality or background without saddling it with real world stereotype issues, maybe with some species gags.

If they're actually the animals and it's not a platonic relationship, I'll have to pass on that one.
