We know the drill, someone makes their offer to work with a partner for literally nothing in return. We usually get in a bit of a habit of saying "can you not do that though?" and uhh.. yeah. More often than not, it seems like it's new people here who want to write their long-term manga rather than a short story or a one-shot, and split the potential profit from it (which most likely is gonna amount to extra change if they're extremely lucky from what I've read here lol). Typically, we don't see any legit responses to the poster's want ad, and sometimes we see a deal made and we hope it works for the best despite the lack of pay.
My point in all this is that.. there's gotta be some other way of going about it, right? Like an alternative to straight up paying the partner in actual money. It's been weighing on my mind recently, and I don't see a thread regarding this issue, so.. I thought, why not bring it up? We seem to bring up discussions about the nature of unpaid collabs every once in a while, and we kinda talk about it until it gets derailed. Maybe we can kinda talk about it here and see what we can come up with as other options besides "paid" and "unpaid"!
Off the top of my head, you could pay them with Ink on Tapas, maybe. You can get Ink for free with by watching ads and other stuff as well on the app now, it should be doable, right? Say you wanna do a one-shot and you settle a deal of how much you'll give upfront and after the comic's done, or each installment.. of course, the Ink you'd have to give up would have to up there in numbers as a 1,000 is barely more a dollar, so like.. once that goes past 5-digits (a considerable amount, mind you), that form of payment should start to sound more reasonable.
What do you guys think? Any other ideas we could add as alternatives?
