I think it would be pretty cool if Tapas went to comic/anime conventions around the country with a collection of hard copied comics and promoted not only their website, but some of their comic artists and writers as well. I would totally be on board sending Tapas hard copies of my comic if they wanted to do something like this. Just a thought I had.

What do you guys think?

problem number one, is this only for those directly under tapas publishing contract or for all artist on here?, problem number two, who has the copy writes of these comics?
problem number three, how would you distribute the money? 50/50, 70/30

it would be awesome but last time they tried making all artist here have to publish under tapas or something like that the backlash was immense and effective =/ still would like to see what would happen if it was implemented

while i guess tapas could reach out to big creators publishing on their own, and stock some of their work too, it makes perfect sense that this scheme would focus on creators working directly with tapas. those are the people whose quality tapas can vouch for, and i imagine makes the legal side a lot less complicated. as for copyright and revenue, surely it would just carry on along the same deal as before in the contract?

i think tapas going into cons would be a really good thing, however they do it. they're already getting started on that, aren't they? the complication to bringing print copies of comics is that people might come to expect that generally, when tapas is still an online publisher. maybe they'd be better off bringing merch they sell - although, still, if a creator they work with has their own hard copies to sell they can always come up with a deal there (say, 'creator gives tapas x many copies and they split the profit so that tapas gets a promotional cut')

I never said to sell the comics, only to promote them. It's possible they could sell them or direct people to an online store, but promotion would be the main thing I think.

Yes I read that earlier today. Not that it's a bad idea, but I'm already well established with cons myself, so it wouldn't be of particular interest for me personally. I'd just rather see Tapas physically at a big promotional booth at cons than have a few artists with a little bit of promo stuff for tapas.
