My preferred genre is New Adult, Fantasy.
I like characters in their 20s and 30s with enough emotional baggage to choke a dragon. LOL. I'm kidding.
Main character is a 20-something who works for the local mafia as a cleaner. She's not grim or dark about it, but just sees her way of disposing of things the best. In a way, she's not wrong. She's able to use magic to decompose and grow flowers; while others are just cruel in comparison.
There are complicated relationships and people trying to become better, but struggling. I'm adamant about writing complex characters, across all genders, as I think men need to cry as much as women need to be more than a lampshade.
Anyway, it's a slow-burn, morally-grey, (soft-magic) fantasy, gothic romance, mystery; set in a faux 1770s. So, there's big hair, wide dresses, and tricorne hats.
