Used to be a big wrestling fan and still watch every now and then... mainly the WWE PPVs when I have nothing better to watch. I'm a huge and still am a big fan of The Undertaker. I still enjoy some of the old-school stuff but the current era, it's pretty underwhelming, in my opinion.

Have you checked AEW? It has a good balance of modern spots with some old-school southern wrestling. Cody Rhodes vs Dustin Rhodes was a masterpiece if you like your old-school wrestling.

Argentina is pretty isolated mostly because the old guard is too enamored with a glorious past most of them weren't even part of.

I think that's pretty common everywhere in this business.

I worked the Mid-Atlantic region here in the States and it's was, and still is, populated with a ton of workers with that Old School mentality that just crippled so many promotions. There was also an overabundance of sketchy schools producing sketchy workers.

It had some variety from some comedy matches (I was involved in arguably the funniest with spots focused on Covid)

Comedy spots are the best. You make a big impression on the crowd without your opponent or you having to get hit by a bus in the finish.

I perform a modified camel clutch with double fish hooks, forcing my opponent to smile. During this match I stopped before locking the move and asked for some protective gloves to do it. Ended up being double super kicked.

You should've seen my lastest match. I wrestled a tall dude that basically was "Kicking: The Wrestler". I ate some stiff shots.

Hmmm...I may not be fan of the sport but I'm a fan of the excitement.

I recently read a comic related to this sport. Anyways, this was a comic that introduced me to that sport. I'm an idiot! The anthology I work on with a collective of others has a WRESTLING short story. It's set in a steampunk western setting but it's definitely a wrestling story. Hope you give it a looksee...

I love wrestling for the storytelling... the mechanics of how you can tell a full story using a different media, which is a fight. Bret Hart vs. Shawn iron match for example... Hogan vs. Rock (and I dislike both, but that WM match was great).
And I also have a fondness for annoyingly clever heels (like CM punk or Kurt Angle for a time). The verbal diarrhea, great inspirational source for dialogue sometimes.
And I'm fascinated by people like you guys that decide to endure the physical part just to entertain others.
As for recommendation, my comics wasn't about wrestling, but one episode is centered around, you might like: An Effy Bout.
