I am trans and I have not seen many books/comics that have transgender characters/main characters. I would love to support comics/novels that have these types of characters! Any suggestions?

I am also thinking about writing a novel with a transgender main character similar to Alice in Wonderland or Wizard of Oz, but I am not sure yet. I have a very specific image in my head for a major plot point but I have to work it out!

I also might include a trans character in my current series (https://tapas.io/series/The-Assassin-Omega5).

Wow! So many! I will be sure to check them all out! Thank you for the response!!! <3

Your welcome, I believe there's a lot more on this site. but the ones I mentioned are my personal favorites. So I hope you find all best ones here.

Good luck, I think Tapas has a high volume of trans character media usually made by small creators

the protagonist of lucid memories has a close friend who's trans, a major character and just an absolute delight x)

My NB partner, @mx_Jinn writes Bard Romance, which features a couple of trans characters the protagonist is or has been romantically entangled with; a badass transwoman gangster and a genderfluid autistic wizard.

Oh and I almost forgot to add that my comic features a Nonbinary goth knight princess (She/They) as a major supporting character. :sweat_02:

Hello! In my comic there are trans characters (boys, girls and non binary characters), though by the moment some characters are not "obvious" so you wont notice (except for the ones that go by they/them pronouns, they are kind of obvious, and maybe Tumael doesnt have much passing neither idk, all my characters are pretty androgynous lol). I myself am a trans man (and my boyfriend who thought most of the plot too) so that's why I think it is important to include trans characters... Here's my comic:

Tumael :two_hearts:

Does genderfluid count? I have a genderfluid character.

My novel's main character is nonbinary.

And @HippieGhost's collection of short stories has a few chapters with trans MCs. Brooders and the Shopkeeper are the ones I know of.

Thanks! I was wondering if by transgender you just meant mtf/ftm, or if any non-cis characters were included.

I'm sure I have more, but can't think of them at the moment.

Also not sure if you consider intersex characters as trans but Drop Out is a pretty good comic once you get used to the lettering.

Non-binary:

And the below are all completed!

@queentrashmuffin Oh dang! I hope you do make those stories (and I'll be the first in line for a trans Wizard of Oz story).

I have a 5 year-old who identifies as male but is gender non-conforming in terms of how he dresses/media he consumes. As of now, we don't know if he wants to spend time with someone like Rapunzel, or if he wants TO BE Rapunzel (so we're making sure we cast a wide net in terms of the people he meets and the media we consume so he'll be better suited to make the right choice for his gender identity in the future).

But yeah, I've been dying for a Wizard of Oz tale centering on Ozma and her trans-nature. I'll never forget my 5 year-old's reaction at bedtime one night as I was reading "Land of Oz" to my kids. We got to the part where the boy hero, Tip, is transformed into the rightful Princess of Oz, Ozma, and his eyes just lit up and he said "Boys can be princesses?!" I've been wanting to write comics starring Ozma ever since- but I just lack the agency (so, as I said, I'll be the first in line for a story like that).

If you're interested, I have a book "Unstoppable Monkey Bunny" and I have a transmasc character, Cyaden (they're the opossum rocking the mohawk in the below panel).

But thanks for making this thread. I'm going to dive into some of these later and see what I can pass along to the family. I'm looking forward to some great future reading material.

1 month later

the main character is non-binary. and i'm not trying to blow my horn and say this is a good work, but i would appreciate if you could check it out

I have a trans character (Fuchsia) in my series Anamnesis.

I made a comic with trans characters. Good? You'll have to judge that for yourself.

Hey there! My comic features multiple trans characters, as well as other members of the LGBTQ community. It's Action/Slice of Life themed with some superhero/villain drama!
