Since Christmas I occasionally post some old episodes on https://medibang.com/36 because it seems like a nice mirroring site with all kinds of publishing options (book format, vertical format, left to right and right to left navigation and such) spiced with some events and contests (there's one comic contest running right now).

I was wondering how many people from Tapastic are there as well, so that we could cheer each other on there.

My profile there is http://mdbn.me/Fany14
(Though please don't assume that I understand how the site works, so far I know how to post a comic and that's about all ^^;; )

But of course Tapastic is always No.1 smile

It seems a little bizzare that you have to be a hired artist to get ad revenue. Something that you can do for free here on tapastic and the equivalent of being a featured artist on webtoons (which they pay 2000$+ a month for)

I guess each comic hosting site has their own way of doing things.

Well yeah, some parts of that site are weird, one just must not think into them too deeply ^^
Who cares about meeting whatever criteria (I haven't read that yet anyways) to become a "featured artist"? I just find it interesting as a mirroring site and to see how other websites work.
Are you there, then?

About the "payment difference" there, I think it's because Medibang is originally a free software for drawing, similar to Krita, so they don't have a huge budget to spend on artists like Line backed by the giant Naver.

yup I use medibang ^^ Kinda my least favorite site i upload on though, at least for now. I like the choice in viewing options, but I think the site doesn't look quite as good as webtoon or tapastic, is kinda confusing to use, and half of it is still in japanese...

can i post at medibang 1 page per day like tapastic or need done 1 chapter?

I've been hesitant about mirroring on other sites like webtoons or even medibang. I found the website a little confusing when I first saw it since so much of it was still japanese and I was unsure on how the rules worked. But the idea of mirroring always appealed to me. I've been considering mirroring on Webtoons once I have my first chapter done.

What's your opinion of the site? I haven't had much a chance to explore it yet

I think it's good to practice mirroring on a few sites because it helps get your comic name out there, but it's important to remember to not spread yourself too thin. When your readers are spread out between too many sites, it gets harder to get the pageviews on the one that needs it. (ex: The site that gains you ad revenue such as a personal site, etc.)

Pick sites carefully on their communities and how well they can advertise your work. (Also keeping the modern mobile movement in mind is key too, which puts large sites like smackjeeves or comicfury on the back burner)

I personally enjoy tapastic because of the large and super friendly community along with their movement to mobile formats.

@Ringarune To me Medibang is just as confusing as Line, but that's probably because I started on Tapastic. And the japanese parts of Medibang are sometimes really hilarious, like, a notice pops up on you and you just click the green button thinking it's something like "ok." and then you find yourself "friends" with a person who doesn't speak English and you don't speak Japanese XD It makes me wonder what's the point of such "friendship" and what the person who asked for "friendship" wanted to achieve...
That's why I thought of looking for people who are there here.
Where else do you mirror, BTW?

@gnekomikero I'm not sure, I've only posted completed episodes there, I'm sorry... But a chapter you have published can have pages added easily so I guess it's possible. Though I have no idea if it marks the chapter as "new" or if whoever gets ever noticed of it...

Now that I think of it, I don't even know if people can sub to your comics there... does anybody know? O.O

@KreativeConfusion I think Medibang is an interesting morroring alternative, and I like how you can choose various ways to display your comic, but that's about all I have found so far. The upload works far better than on Line, where it tends to get stuck. But no community is there, just like on Line.

@NaniRoxy

I admit I forgot about these old sites... But they don't allow vertical formats, do they?

Well, yeah, keeping readers in one place because of ad revenue may be true for some people, and being careful of the communities too, but TBH I don't really care about "fame" or "getting my name out there", and ads don't really make much difference with most people using ad blockers (and I don't post comics on my website anyways).

I think I just want to sometimes post some comics outside of Tapastic because I just want people to enjoy my works. If people don't know about Tapastic or for some reason aren't comfortable with it, they have no chance of discovering and enjoying your comic. And also, some people just don't like switching sites, so I'm posting the comics for them on the site they feel at home at.

Now I realize I've been using the wrong term "mirroring", because I post on Medibang and Line selected comics randomly when I remember, so it's usually several months after they have been published here on Tapastic. I can't imagine posting something with a regular schedule, like The World of Wishes, when there's no way to schedule the posts XD

Haha, you all know that my heart is here on Tapastic and its awesome community ^u^

I also mirror on line webtoon. It was super confusing at first, but now its manageable, but I still don't understand why they don't let you upload png files XP. I still prefer tapastic over webtoon though. There's fewer ways to interact with your audience on there, and the rating system kind of stresses me out sometimes. I was consisderring mirroring on smackjeeves as well, but it was super confusing and I didn't really care for the website layout, so I decided against it.

Right? And also gifs - animated gifs enhance the comics so much! DX

This part of Line is also very disappointing. There's no comment nor reply notifications so even if you answer a comment, there's high chance the one who commented will never see it. It's like... there's just no point in answering. And a lot of comments are spams anyways. It's tiring for the creator as well, when they have to go through every single episode's comments to see if there's something new. I admit I always give up before even trying, that's why no comments under my comics there are answered. This part of the site is most likely the reason people often complain of getting mean comments there, because there's just no community and everybody feels strong as "anonymous" >:P
Haha, I admit I never looked at their rating system, it doesn't really mean anything so it's not worth the stress ^^
