There's a great detailed review that I could give you the link to if you want to know more about the game, but if not then that's totally understandable.

I picked it up today! As I've been playing, I think its strongest suits are the story and vibrant world. Controls are weird sometimes, but never frustrating. Also cutscenes are beautiful, even with the occasional odd vocal delivery from some secondary characters. But despite any problems that I've come across, the story is fascinating and keeps me sucked into the game. Time will tell if I'm wrong, though.

Weird as in unresponsive or just not having the layout? Or is it because of them doing away with the menu of commands at the bottom?

It's just the way the characters move sometimes. The momentum in their running never builds up, so it feels unnatural. Like going from a full stop to full speed with nothing in between, even when swimming.

Already did, debating if I want to write a review for it. It's really good, I can't stop playing, and seeing as Xenoblade chronicles was one of the 3 games that inspired my webcomic, (Mainly the Mechon) I HAD to get the special edition of XB2. It's good, like I said but the voices they picked for some of the characters are really questionable. Also, in a world where junk and scrapping is a big thing, why didn't they add in some form of building mechanic? Whatever, now I am starting to trail off, but, if I ever get a review done on youtube I'll post it here or something!

There is free dlc to get the Japanese voice acting if you're not liking the english voice acting.

So, I finally got to play the game last night, after I bought it AND a Switch the other day. I was definitely excited for this game, even though I never played the first two, but loved the other Xeno games.
So after playing about 4-5 hours and finishing the first chapter, I’m not sure how I still feel. My biggest concerns so far are the voice acting and the character designs. My concern with the VA came to light during a fight scene, and Rex was yelling AIYAAAHH! during an attack. Which is fine, but was executed so poorly, it just sucked me out me out of an otherwise gorgeous fight.
As for the character designs, it’s really obvious when you enter you’re first dungeon and three people join you. The girl, Nia, looks like she was drawn in a style similar to Rex, like regular anime style, which I actually like their designs. Then the two guys, Malos and Jin, no joke, their portraits look like they should be in Dissidia, like kinda realistic, and their models show this too. And maybe they were designed by the artists behind Dissidia, but those two art styles together just don’t gel right.
So far those are my only concerns (and the camerawork in Pyra’s introduction) but I like to give things a fair shot, so maybe this might be a new favorite. My favorite part so far, though, is the gem on Pyra and her sword looks the Zohar. Xeno fans, you know.
