Anyone wanna chat about their oc lore?

So in a desperate attempt to get something out related to my ocs and their stories i decided to start making blogs dedicated to their lore and worldbuilding

The first one I threw together was for Hellcats + Hellhounds

words that melt in your hands

Now I'm on the verge of making another for my fantasy story Journey to Nowhere as I've had more ideas swimming in my head about its worldbuilding not to mention stuff about the shared universe both those two stories as well as some others are all in.

I'm just kind of curious if anyone has done or is doing the same, especially those who aren't actively publishing a comic or novel and if any of you folks would wanna talk shop about that kind of thing

I started to make a World Anvil page once for comic lore. But it fizzled out because I get bored just writing random facts down.

I did something similar with Naota Logs. I'm still trying to come up with D logs on my Instagram. Haven't done it yet, but should be super easy to make. Just him talking about his experiences with Naota and fleshing the relationship out.

As for Naota logs, I'm reserving them for every time I finish an arc.

I know I should create a lore section that breaks down everything but I am not sure how to go about it without overwhelming my readers. I briefly touched on it in one of my chapters about Fire-people but that was only the tip of the iceberg. And maybe I am a bit hesitant because there are parts of the lore that I haven't even touched. No point explaining Earth-people and their religion if their are no Earth-people characters in any of my comics thus far.

Also worried I might look like this.

Maybe I should create a series dedicated to just being a lore bible IDK

i think what i've been fixated on lately is elements of the shared world/universe all my stories take place in

like it's all the same world but each story lands on different points in that worlds timeline from past to "present" and while the setting changes with the times there's core elements that remain the same like the cycles of life, death and rebirth, the afterlife, and the "gods" of the world where both planet and power derive from

the hardest part has maybe been naming since my brain keeps latching onto what's inspired some of these elements than being able to come up with my own stuff and then kind if ironing out the kinks and refining the slightly more detailed stuff like hierarchy, power levels and things of that nature

i think that's why the blog had been convenient because as more asks had come in about certain stuff the easier it was to kind of think things out since it gave a singular point of focus than the amalgam of info floating around in my head

I personally think it's a good idea to embrace what your brain latches onto rather than fight it; if you come up with your own stuff just for the sake of being original but it doesn't feel quite right, there's probably a reason for that. Usually, if I sleep on something that my brain is latching onto, it eventually 'blooms' into something that's different enough but still shares the 'spirit'/'flavour' of the thing that inspired it :]

Haha I feel like it would be kind of the opposite for me (maybe because I naturally tend towards short bursts of focused thinking and it only turns into an amalgam of info when i neglect to write it down immediately); if people ask me about specific points that I'm not currently thinking about, it would probably just distract me 'cos it's like 'i don't have an answer for this and i don't want to pull one out of my ass either because I'd have no attachment to it and it wouldn't be as well-integrated into the rest of the world as stuff that occurred to me naturally' :'D

I write some appendices for Nixvir. They have not been published yet. They detail the lore behind the series, much like the appendices to LOTR, which they were inspired by.
