Hey!
So I collaborate with 3 different artists on 3 different ongoing webtoons at the moment, and I am working with a few others on projects that are WIPs at present.
I love working with my collaborators since we are all invested in the stories we are making. Of course we aren't always consistent when real life comes into play (for example exams and family grievances), but you learn so much about the time and effort that goes into creating webcomics when collaborating. The three ongoing projects are also made differently, one artist uses Clip Studio, another uses Procreate and the last one actually draws 80% of the comic by hand before uploading for editing on her computer.
I found all my collaborators on IG, and my first collaborator was in the process of sorting out her wedding when I first got in contact with her. She said she was interested, but when I did not hear from her thought she wasn't interested, only for me to get the draft first chapter out of the blue and her explaining the situation. I was so glad I started out with her because she is a professional children's illustrator who taught me (a complete amateur) so much, and it helped me set a precedent for when I worked with other people. You can actually see how much of a clueless dunce I was from my first post on here - it was for a SUPER long project, and in hindsight I doubt even I, let alone the artist, would have been able to keep up with it. But Karla really opened my eyes, and I realised baby steps was the way to go.
Our ultimate aim is to open up a studio together and actually hire artists for the many stories we have yet to tell, but like I said, baby steps. Some of us are still in school, some of us have family commitments and some of us have actual paid work to get along with to. But it is cool to have a dream to share with like minded individual, it definitely seems more attainable
