Apart from DBZ, what anime did you enjoy watching on Toonami 20 years ago?

Swore I saw Vampire Hunter D on toonami (cartoon network) that movie was my introduction to anime and remained a personal fave ever since I was a totally tiny kid then too, so was surprised a cartoon could be 'mature' XD

Here we had toonami only for 3 years and it didn't really air that much anime, just cartoons for slightly older audience, I guess
The only anime we got through it were Battle B-Daman and Duel Masters 'xD out of these I'd go with B-Daman

But we actually got Dragon Ball (first series, Z and GT) way earlier than toonami with French dub, together with some other anime series like Saint Seiya, Slayers or Magic Knight Raeyarth

My house didn’t get that channel until much later. So I never watched anything on Cartoon Network until the mid 2000s

I mostly watched DBZ on Cartoon Network, don’t know if it was always Toonami. Other animes I remember…

I pretty much only tuned into Toonami for shows like The Brak Show and Batman The Animated Series. So... basically when Toonami was first a thing and before they had anime lol. Oh and the Real Adventures of Johnny Quest.

But I mean it was rare for me to even watch Cartoon Network cause we didn't have cable. Basically I could only watch it at my grandparents house.

We didn't had Toonami here, but it kinda has similar shows to Cartoon Network had at the same time (and I was lucky my grandparents TV had it) , so it's Tenchi Muyo, Big O, Chōjū Kishin Dancougar, Machine Robo Revenge of Cronos and Blue Submarine No. 6

Back then, Funimation was its own cable channel instead of an additional subscription, so most anime we watched was actually through their on-demand channel. Ah, youth.

While there was no Toonami here, I loved watching City Hunter on TV back then. I can still watch that show any day, it was really ahead of its time. A shame that few people remember the anime while almost everyone I know has seen the Jackie Chan movie based on it.

20 years ago, I was 5. Not much for me to watch lmao I think the earliest exposure of anime for me at that time was DBZ, Pokemon, and... Sailor Moon? I think my older sisters were into it. As a 5-year-old, I would've definitely enjoyed it more for the visuals.

I also vaguely remember waking up early for school and seeing some old anime between the end of Adult Swim and the regular morning cartoons. I think it was Speed Racer and Gigantor. Bits of the Gigantor theme (US version, I'm sure) are just ingrained in my head now tbh
