Even as a digital artist, I still do lots of traditional art: every piece I create, from drawings to comics to animation, has a physical paper trail of inks and pencil sketches.
Every once in a while, I still do traditional pieces that are meant to 'stand alone', though. Like this painting I did 2 months ago, I think:
I was trying to apply some of the digital shading techniques I'd learned since the last time I took up the brushes...it didn't come out perfect, but it was very interesting to try.
But since I don't paint so much anymore (especially since I left IB Art...) most of my modern traditional work is just sketches. Like, maybe I'll be doodling a character and get a little too into it; that kinda stuff.
I think I'll always be a traditional artist at heart; working with physical media is just too much fun. And (although my experience is still very limited) I have yet to find a tool that I can express myself with better than a mechanical pencil. Digital art just gives me more color options, and of course, allows me to satisfy my inner perfectionist through the use of Ctrl+Z. ^^
